Flow Cytometry Core

The Curtis-Freeman Lab oversees the instruments that comprise the VAAAHS Flow Cytometry Core. Use of the instruments or analysis software, and consultation on experimental design, are available to VA and non-VA users on a fee-basis.

BD LSR II:

• • Currently configured as a 4-laser analyzer

  • 488 nm blue, 405 nm violet, 561 nm yellow-green, 633 nm red

  • yields 13 parameters (forward scatter, side scatter and fluorescence channels FL1-FL11)

  • Operated using FACS Diva software

  • Use requires specific training on High Throughput Sampler (HTS)

  • Located in Building 31, Room 111

Use of Instrument:

• • requires prior training

  • is restricted to regular working hours (07:00-17:00, Mon-Fri), except with prior approval

Data:

• • Data will be burned to a CD at the end of each experiment

  • Data acquired on the LSR II must be analyzed on the users' own computer(s)
