The Curtis-Freeman Lab is located in the Research Building (Building 31) of the VAAAHS. Because the lab is located within a federal facility, access is solely by electronic security pass. Unfortunately, long-term construction has made the main entrance to Building 31 inaccessible. Therefore, someone from the lab will either have to let you in from a side entrance or guide you from the main hospital entrance. Detail directions are below.
Directions for Access Through the Main Entrance (via Shuttle, Visitor's Parking Lot)
To enter via the Visitor's Parking Lot, drive east on Fuller Road from the UMHS Medical Center, past the Intramural fields. The Visitor's Parking Lot is entered from Fuller Road, at the traffic light slight past Beal Ave. Drive in around the circle in front of the VA Main Entrance. Enter the Medical Center directly from the parking lot (green arrow below) to find the information desk, where you should then contact a lab member by phone to guide you to the lab. The UMHS-VA shuttle will drop you off at the circle in front of the VA Main Entrance on Fuller Road, adjacent to the Visitor's Parking Lot. You may then enter the Medical Center and contact a member of the lab.
Directions for Access to Building 31 Directly (via City or Blue Bus, on Foot)
To enter via the north side of Fuller Road, where the city bus stop is, cross the street and walk across the surface parking lot and turn left, after which you will continue along the walkway and find the side entrance to Building 31 immediately to your left (blue arrow below). Alternatively, you may enter through the easier-to-find north side entrance as well (red arrow below). If coming from further west along Fuller Road, such as from the Fuller parking lot or Blue Bus stop, the west side entrance is also accessible by taking a right at the intersection along Fuller Court and following the walkway to the right of the surface parking lot and the left of the emergency ambulance entrance and then making a right (orange arrow). Once you are outside the building, contact a lab member by phone with your location.
