Welcome to the Home of the Curtis-Freeman Lab!
We are members of the Department of Internal Medicine/Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Division at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Our lab is located at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.
The Curtis-Freeman laboratory seeks to understand the regulation of pulmonary immunity, especially via control of lung leukocyte numbers & function.
Our research spans the gamut from biochemical, cellular & molecular studies of macrophage signaling during apoptotic cell uptake, through murine models of lung inflammation, auto-immunity and infection (in collaboration with several other laboratories), to studies that employ human specimens to investigate the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The laboratory has a record of over 18 years of continuous funding, with current active support from NHLBI/NIH & the Department of Veterans Affairs.
