Africa History and Anthropology Workshop (AHAW) is an interdisciplinary group of graduate students and faculty at the University of Michigan with a shared interest in the study of Africa and the African Diaspora. We meet throughout the school year to discuss pre-circulated papers and grant proposals written by graduate students, faculty, and invited guests. Scholars from all disciplines are encouraged to join us.

AHAW meets approximately every two weeks. Unless noted, we convene on Tuesdays from 4 to 6pm in 4701 Haven Hall. Since Fall 2010, AHAW has been coordinated to meet on alternating Tuesdays with the Africa Workshop series sponsored by the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies (DAAS).

AHAW is generously funded by the Rackham Graduate School as a Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop

If you would like to be included on the AHAW email list or receive further information about our workshop, please contact either Christine Chalifoux (cmchalif@umich.edu) or Sonia Rupcic (srupcic@umich.edu).
