Africa History and Anthropology Workshop (AHAW) is an interdisciplinary group of graduate students and faculty at the University of Michigan with a shared interest in the study of Africa and the African Diaspora. Remarkably, AHAW has been a vital part of U-M’s African studies community for more than twenty years. We meet throughout the school year to discuss pre-circulated papers and grant proposals written by graduate students, faculty, and invited guests. Scholars from all disciplines are encouraged to join us.
Unless otherwise noted, AHAW convenes on Tuesdays from 3 to 5pm in 4701 Haven Hall approximately every two weeks, on alternating Tuesdays with the Africa Workshop series sponsored by the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies (DAAS).
AHAW is generously funded by the Rackham Graduate School as a Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop
If you would like to be included on the AHAW email list or receive further information about our workshop, please contact either Jessie Bakitunda (bjessie@umich.edu) or Inhae Yap (inhaey@umich.edu).
