  • Smart Buildings (next location prediction, person movement prediction, smart energy management systems);

  • Web mining (web page prefetching, web page prediction);

  • Image processing (noise filtering, pattern recognition, image reconstruction).

Scientific Activity

• • Member since 2004 of Advanced Computer Architecture and Processing Systems research center (ACAPS), "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, director prof. dr. Remus Brad;

  • Affiliate member of HiPEAC (European Network of Excellence on High Performance and Embedded Architecture and Compilation) since 2012;

  • Member of the Romanian Society of Automation and Technical Informatics (SRAIT) since 2005;

  • 7 books (two in English) and over 60 scientific papers published in some appreciated journals and international conferences (Erdős number 4), with over 500 citations in different publications (Hirsch index 15);

  • 19 projects (director of the research teams in 9 grants);

  • Member in the scientific committee of international conferences and top international journals like Microprocessors and Microsystems, IET Image Processing, IEEE Access, Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing, International Energy Journal, Information, Studies in Informatics and Control, Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, Applied Sciences, Sensors, Energies, Sustainable Cities and Society, Energy Efficiency, etc.;

  • Member in the editorial board of Journal of Digital Information Management, Journal of e-Technology, International Journal of Advanced Statistics and IT&C for Economics and Life Sciences;

  • Member in the organizing committees of the Medinf 2007 international conference and of the HiPEAC Sibiu 2013 international workshop;

  • Participant at ACACES 2005, the First International Summer School on Advanced Computer Architecture and Compilation for Embedded Systems, L'Aquila, Italy, July 2005 – grant supported by HiPEAC;

  • Visiting researcher for five weeks (march - april 2006) at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain – research carried out through the HPC-EUROPA project (RII3-CT-2003-506079) under the FP6 "Structuring the European Research Area" programme, with the support of the European Community (Research Infrastructure Action);

  • Participant at ACACES 2006, the Second International Summer School on Advanced Computer Architecture and Compilation for Embedded Systems, L'Aquila, Italy, July 2006 – grant supported by HiPEAC;

  • Research visit of four weeks (june - july 2009) at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, within the MULTICUBE FP7 project;

  • "AD AUGUSTA PER ANGUSTA" prize awarded in 2010 by "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu for excellence in scientific research.
