Students at UD are welcome engage in various music & music technology opportunities offered by the Music Department. These include introductory courses in technology, a minor in music technology, and various opportunities for music creation. If you have any questions, please contact any of our technology faculty (listed below).
The BA in Music Studies
While we do not currently have a music technology major, students can register for a BA in Music Studies and pursue a music tech-oriented curriculum.
No audition is required to pursue a BA in music
Students may fulfill the applied study (lessons) requirement in a variety of instruments/voice (even at the beginning level). This includes singing, guitar, piano, or electronic music performance.
We offer a variety of ensembles that fulfill the BA ensemble requirement.
The BM in Music Composition
The BM in composition is a professional degree aimed at students who wish to pursue graduate study in composition or a similar field (conducting, theory, etc.). We offer lessons in a variety of styles, including electronic music and film music. Audition and composition interview are required for entry.
We encourage students who wish to pursue a tech career to double major in computer science, engineering, or communications (or a related field).
Please contact us about options for pursuing:
The Dual Degree: Requires you to fulfill all graduation requirements for two separate majors.
You will receive two degrees (i.e. a BA in Psychology and a BA in Music).
This is advised for pursuing a BA in music and any other BA.
The Dual Major: Requires you to fulfill all graduation requirements for one degree and only the major requirements for another.
You will receive a single degree in the primary field with a secondary emphasis (i.e. BS in Computer Science and Music).
This is advised for pursuing a BA in music and any non-BA degree.
