At this meeting we reviewed the survey data from parents. staff and students, as well as discussed feedback we received while presenting the information to our community..
The survey data shows that there is not a consensus in our community in regards to this initiative. The community comments identified both strengths and challenges of the plan. Committee members commented on the thoughtful and comprehensive nature of the responses. The results will be shared with our community.
After much discussion as well as a great meal, thank you Rachel McCloskey, administration has decided to move forward with the recommendation as crafted in our previous meetings with some adjustments to address important concerns raised by our community. One adjustment being that we will be allowing drop offs at our elementary schools at 8:40 in the morning. This is our current drop off schedule now. There is a possibility that this could be even earlier. We also have worked out what we hope will be a better schedule for our swim team practices at the YMCA. More to come on this issue.
The School Board Work Session is scheduled for Monday, April 17th, at 7:00 PM. This will be held at the middle school in the auditorium. Our presentation is scheduled for the start of this meeting. The following committee members will be presenting our recommendation. Sachi Patel, Matt Daniels, Dave Listman, Pat Clark, Betty Kucharczuk, Matt McCloskey, Tim Hoffman, Jimmy Conley, Dr. Sanville and myself.
If the recommendation is approved by the Board we will quickly reconvene our committee to discuss the implementation and evaluation of the new start and end times.
I want to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication to this process and to our district and students. You have truly gone the extra mile for our district with your work on this committee. No matter what happens in regards to the recommendation, your work on the committee is greatly valued and appreciated. You have exemplified what we always strive to do, put the students first in every decision.
Thank you again,
John
