Dr. Sandy Hodgetts is an assistant professor in Occupational Therapy at the University of Alberta. She Co-Directs the Supporting Kids Inclusion & Participation (SKIP) Lab in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta. Her research interests relate to supports, interventions, and services to improve health, participation and wellbeing for people diagnosed with ASD and their families.  

Current Projects/Collaborations

1. Disclosing their child's diagnosis of ASD to others: Family processes and perceived outcomes (WCHRI/Stollery Hospital Foundation; co-PI with Dr. S. Phelan)

2. Examining transition from adolescence to adulthood in ASD (ACCFCR; collaborator; PI: Dr. David Nicholas)

3. Improving Social Participation for Children with ASD in Elementary Schools (ACCFCR; co-PI, Dr. S. Phelan)

4. Preparing for the future: Autonomous goals setting for individuals with ASD (Glenrose Hospital Foundation; PI)

5. Exploring occupational therapists beliefs and perceptions of treatment effects with sensory-based approaches for children with ASD (Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine internal grant competition; PI) 

6. Equipping unregulated workers to more effectively manage responsive behaviours (Alberta Health funded; collaborator, PI: Dr. S. Bremault-Phillips)
