Our STEM staff are all volunteers who help ensure that our STEM program and academies provide an enriching, engaging opportunity for our participants:

Mike Wedge, STEM co-coordinator

Mr. Wedge is one of S-O's high school science teachers and is a member of the Teacher Think Tank for the Governor's STEM committee and the Next Generation Science Standards committee for Iowa.

Fellow scientists! I am proud to be part of the STEM program and movement in Iowa! Sibley STEM began in 2009 and has since evolved into a program that works hard to engage students in grades 3-5 in the STEM fields. Iowa needs to home grow our own scientists and engineers and that begins when kids are, well kids. I am very grateful to our generous sponsors and community supporters as well as the great group of STEM facilitators we have.

Mike Anderson, STEM co-coordinator

Mr. Anderson is a technology integrationist with Prairie Lakes AEA.

Michael Compton, STEM co-coordinator

Mr. Compton is with the ISU extension office for Osceola County.

I work for ISU Extension and Outreach for Osceola County as the Youth County Coordinator and have done so since November 2011. I am in charge of the 4-H program for the county as well as educational programming in the county. I have my Iowa teaching license and have a passion for STEM programming because it is the wave of the future. For our kids to be competitive in an technologically advancing world, they need hands on inquiry based educational experiences that STEM programming provides. The state 4-H program is also moving in this direction so by working with local schools, parents and volunteers, we can help prepare our young people with the enthusiasm and excitement of learning about the STEM subjects.

Mr. Tutje is the 7-8 science teacher at S-O.

Darren Rockman, Nature STEM facilitator

Mr. Rockman is with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Kris Vipond

Mrs. Vipond is Sibley's city clerk and is responsible for handling STEM's financing.
