Race for STEM (2013)
Date: Saturday, March 2nd, 2013
Time: 9 am - 2 pm
Participants: 36 students, 14 parents.
Participants learned about speed and motion in "Race for STEM." The activity sessions included:
* Scooter Race (participants had to race their scooters through an obstacle course to determine their average speed).
* LEGO car race (participants had to build their own LEGO race cars)
* Thrust Wars (participants had to build a device, using just straws and balloons, that could move along a wire from one end to the other)
* CD Hovercraft (participants built a working hovercraft using just a balloon, pop bottle top and a CD)
* Marble Drop (participants had to drop a marble into a moving toy car at just the right time).
