Examination (50%) – Investigating Media (2 hrs)

Part A asks students to answer 4 short questions about an unseen media text. The questions will cover some of the following issues: media forms, codes and conventions; media representations; media institutions; media audiences and media values and ideologies. The students’ answers should be critical and will be informed by their research and knowledge of the subject.

Part B asks students to write about their cross-media case study – research that they will have completed for their coursework – and answer one longer question about how meanings and audience responses are inspired.

Coursework (50%) – Creating Media

•Practical unit: Externally set production briefs. Students will create two linked production pieces taken from two of the three media platforms: Video, Print and E-media. They will then write a 1500 word evaluation of the process.
