In addition to building basic skills in drama class like listening, cooperating with the group, following directions, attention, and focusing on prolonged activities through games and activities, first graders begin to act out more complex scenes and develop their own stories. Storytelling, reenactments, and modeling not only build drama skills, but also help build thinking skills that the students will use in first grade reading. Self esteem, confidence, and trust in the group help foster these skills.
Second grade drama class continues to build important skills for functioning in any classroom, like listening, cooperating with the group, following directions, attention, and focusing on a prolonged activities through games and activities.
