Grades 1-8
Artist Residency Program
This year, 56 elementary schools and over 100 teachers have been selected from across the TDSB for Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, Music, Media Arts and Spoken Word artist residencies. Principals were contacted directly and they selected two classes to participate (in grades 1-8).
Each participating class will be partnered with a residency artist. Artists facilitate a rich creative process which can be extended and expanded upon by the classroom teacher. Artists work with students and teachers through a series of workshops that are embedded in the school day.
The artist residency will culminate with a sharing of the learning, rather than a final exhibition or performance. Focus will be on process and collaboration with less emphasis on an obligation to create final products.
