Labs

During this current academic year (2022-2023), three lab sections are meeting regularly under the day-to-day guidance of Dr. Farber's doctoral students:

-The Positive Regard lab (led by doctoral student Mossie Lierle) is conducting research on the nature and consequences of therapists' provision of positive regard as these are influenced by cultural considerations;

-The Therapy Disclosure and Concealment lab (led by doctoral student Shana Dickstein) is conducting research on client disclosure as a function of the therapeutic alliance; and

-The Internet, Disclosure, and Psychotherapy lab (led by doctoral student Gus Mayopoulos) is conducting research on the differences between online client disclosures on social media and disclosures in psychotherapy.

The participation of clinical psych MA students in these lab sections provides enormously helpful assistance on these projects and also provides an opportunity for students to become involved in clinical research. While there are, of course, no guarantees that working in this lab (or any other) will lead to a position in a doctoral program, here or elsewhere, former members of Dr. Farber's lab have moved on to doctoral programs across the country, including Ohio University, Adelphi University, University of Maryland- Baltimore, St. John’s University (New York), Long Island University, Widener University, City College of New York, and the University of Pittsburgh. If you are interested in participating in our ongoing research, you may go to the Contact Us section of our website; please note, however, that these labs are exclusively open to MA students in the clinical psychology program at TC, that there are only a limited number of positions available each year, and that, for the most part, these labs are established in the fall of each academic year.

Over the past 6-7 years, the labs' work has led to the following publications and conference presentations:
