Measurement from ethanol experiment

water and sugar experment

Calculate the following:

1) Total volume of solution made (Flasks a - D) in both ml and L

2) Total sugar added in both g and kg

3) Combining all 4 flasks, what was the ratio of sugar to water?

4) If we were to make a total volume of 20L at the same concentration, how much sugar would we need?

5) Total volume of bio-fuel produced from distilling the first 500ml (in both ml and L)

6) How much bio-fuel would we expect to produce after distilling the entire volume we made? How much from 20L?

Extension:

a) Calculate the estimate % Ethanol using this formula:  % Ethanol = ((1.05 x (SG – FG)) / FG) / 0.79

b) Calculate actual % of ethanol produced using the measurement above.
