College Application Process

1. The SUNY Application for all State University of New York (public) schools.
2. The Common Application for over 400 colleges. Click here to see the participating schools.
3. Individual College Applications. Go to the particular school's website and find a link to apply.

What most colleges will ask you for:

1. Basic demographic information (name, date of birth, address, contact information, social security number, etc.)
2. Official transcript (be sure to request this from the guidance office)
3. Letters of recommendation (each Tapestry student is required to ask 2 academic teachers)
4. Personal essay or statement (for more information, click here)
5. Activities listing (each Tapestry student is required to create and update a professional resumé in Naviance)

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) – SUNY Schools

The EOP program is designed for students who need special academic and financial assistance. Please consult with your college advisor to determine if you qualify and to which campuses you should apply. You will be asked to complete additional application materials and financial aid forms by your college choices. Be sure to meet all deadlines.

The State University of New York's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides academic support and financial aid to students who show promise for mastering college-level work, but who may otherwise not be admitted. Offered primarily to full-time students who are New York State residents, EOP accepts students who qualify, academically and financially, for the program. Note: You cannot apply for both the EOP and Early Decision/Early Action programs.

EOP Eligibility

To be eligible for admission to EOP you must be:

• A New York State resident for 12 months prior to enrollment
• Ineligible for admission under traditional standards, but demonstrate potential for completing a college program
• In need of financial assistance within established income guidelines

In selecting students for the program, priority is given to applicants from historically disadvantaged backgrounds. If in the year prior to enrollment your family income falls within EOP guidelines due to unemployment, separation, divorce or death of a parent, etc., you may still not qualify for EOP if you are not from an historically disadvantaged background.

To request admission to an EOP program, you must first complete the EOP eligibility wizard. To begin the wizard, click the "Yes" button on the Peliminary Questions page. Answer each question and click "Continue". When the wizard is complete, a recommendation will be made. Please choose your answer based on the wizard's recommendation

Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) - Other NYS Schools
