NO UNDER 13's
If you are letting your students make their own blogs, then they must be over 13 years of age.
If they are younger than that, then the school that they are enrolled at must be the owners of the blog and the students can be invited as authors.
If you are blogging with intermediate students, then they will most likely already have blogs from their own school so you can use these blogs for your work too.
Now that you have a blog, you are ready to start making posts on it.
There are a couple of ways that you can start to write on your blog.
When you are on your list of blogs, you can click the big orange pencil button.
If you are viewing your blog, you can click the "new post" button on the top right hand side.
The screen you see when you want to write a blog post looks like this.
The post title is what your blog post is going to be about.
The large space below there, is where you will put your content.
When you publish your blog post, the labels will appear down at the bottom, under the post, like this.
Blogs are always more interesting with photographs.
It is really easy to add lots of pictures to your blog site.
The first thing you have to do is click on the insert an image button on the tool bar that you see when you are writing a blog post.
It is not quite as simple to embed a video from YouTube, but it doesn't take too long.
Getting the code from YouTube
Load up the video you want onto YouTube.
Along the row of things under the video, just along from the like button, is one called Share.
This is the one you want.
It now shows this selection, where you need to choose the one called Embed.
It gives a selection of video sizes, but don't choose one too big or it hangs over the side of your blog.
You need to select the html code it gives you in the box and copy it.
Putting the code on your blog post
You now need to put this code into your blog post so that the video will play on your blog.
When you are on the "compose a blog post" section, you will see at the left hand side - compose / html.
You need to click on the html button.
This is where you need to paste that html that you got from YouTube.
Paste it underneath what you have been putting on the post so far.
It doesn't matter that you don't know what it means. You don't have to.
When you click back onto the compose button, you can now see your video.
You can move your curser under the video and continue the blog post if there is more to add.
When you publish your post, the video will be there in your post for people to play on the blog.
