Grading Policy

In first grade we don’t have “grades” like you would see on an older student’s report card. We do however assess the children quarterly in reading and math. These assessments determine who needs academic intervention services (AIS). We also assess them while they are reading orally for us during guided reading instruction. You are always welcome to contact me if you have concerns about your child’s progress.

On tests and on the report card you will a number scale 4,3,2,1. Here is what they mean.

4= Advanced

3= Proficient

2= Developing

1= Below

This is the progress report that will be filled out for your child every 5 weeks.
