Why Give

The Maroon Strong Foundation is the ideal 501(c)3 for your donations for several reasons:

1. Your contribution is 100% tax deductible as allowed by law.
2. The Maroon Strong Foundation's primary objective is to supplement funding and/or sustainability for projects that will directly affect the instruction, and therefore education, of Swain County Students.
3. Roughly 65% of Swain County Schools students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
4. Swain County is a beautiful place to live, it boasts rivers that feed into a sprawling lake, as well as mountain trails and abundant scenic views of its 541 square miles. Of that 541 square miles, only 24% is taxable, leaving Swain County Schools a drastically reduced pool from which to draw educational funding.
5. There are NO administrative fees if giving by check. (If giving by credit card or PayPal -these are convenient giving methods that we are hoping to offer soon - and carry a 3% fee [approx] from processors.)
6. The Maroon Strong Foundation is committed to transparency. We want you to know exactly where your money is going and what type of impact it has on Swain County Schools. We have also earned a Silver Star for a 501(c)3 transparency rating from Guidestar (click the star for additional info,) and we will work to improve as we grow.
