Over the weekend, one hundred of the top fifth and sixth grade singers in Dutchess County came together to perform a concert!
We are very proud of our two chorus participants from Hagan Elementary, Jovie Devitt and Rocco Molon who spent countless weeks preparing.

About twenty seven members of the fifth grade chorus team sang the national anthem to kick off the Harlem Wizards Basketball Game!

Fourth Grade students from Mrs. Burlingame's class accompanied the song "I Got A Letter" with a broken bordun ostinato pattern on the Orff instruments!

Last weekend Mr. Andreas was awarded the 2022 NYSSMA Early Career Achievement Award at the NYSSMA Winter Conference. He was also able to attend various workshops and catch up with old friends and colleagues.

Mr. Andreas publishes a book entitled "A Quick and Practical Guide to Remote Elementary Music." This book is filled with tips, tricks, and activities to help guide the elementary music teacher through online and remote teaching.

What a great way to connect with students during the pandemic by visiting their homes with a car parade.

One highlight of remote learning during the pandemic was the "Family Folk Song" Project.
Students were asked to research a family or friend"adult" and learn one song from their childhood and culture. After learning about the , students were asked to submit a recording of themselves performing the song.
What a wonderful way to peek into the musical lives of students outside of the music classroom.

Mr. Andreas recently presented a workshop at the 2020 NJMEA (New Jersey Music Educator's Association) State Conference in Atlantic City, NJ. This workshop was entitled "How Far I'll Go" and introduced various ways to incorporate popular children's media into the early childhood classroom.

We are very proud of fifth graders William McGovern and Brandon Relyea for participating in the 2020 DCMEA Elementary All-County Chorus!
All-County Chorus is comprised of the top fifth and sixth grade students in Dutchess County. Students at Hagan are required to audition for this special honor!

Fourth Grade Musicians have learned that Musical Theater is comprised of Acting, Singing, and Dancing.
This week, students are focusing on "Acting" while developing their skills through partner scene work. Students are to reflect upon how they use their Face, Voice, and Body.

Third Grade Musicians discover mood in music by listening to two pieces of music, drawing pictures of what it reminds them of, and discussing the mood or how each piece makes them feel.

4th Grade Musicians have forty seconds to complete a "Read Me Challenge" where they must figure out how to clap and speak the rhythmic notation using rhythm syllables, words, and clapping.

Fourth Grade Girl Scouts from Hagan Elementary spent an evening developing their musicianship through singing, movement, musical knowledge (instruments and composers), and circle games in order to earn their music badge.
