About the Music Program
"It is my hope that my students' experiences in music education be so meaningful, memorable, and fun that in thirty years, they will have no choice, but to share these experiences with their own loved ones."
Students in the 3rd and 4th grade music program at Hagan Elementary continue to develop their musical skills and understanding to foster a life-long appreciation and involvement in music.
Students will have experiences in:
Vocal Exploration, Vocal Technique, and Singing
Music Literacy: Rhythm and Solfege
Movement Exploration & Movement for Form and Expression
Folk Dancing (Circle, Longways Sets)
Instruments (Orff, Recorder, and Non-Pitched Percussion)
Composition (student-created)
Music Technology (Applications)
About Music: Composers, The Orchestra Instruments, World Music, Musical Theater
Students will continue their study and practice of musical literacy through the implementation of the Conversational Solfege supplemental curricula by John Feierabend. Students will be able to perform various rhythm/solfege (singing syllables) patterns, aurally recognize these patterns, read musical notation using these patterns, write and dictate patterns heard, and compose/create.
