In partnership with parents and our community, Sublette County School District #1 is committed to providing a student centered, 21st Century learning experience that will inspire all students to become lifelong learners and prepare
each of them to be responsible and successful adults in a global society.
BELIEF STATEMENT
A Student is the most important person ever in this school. A Student is not dependent on us...we are dependent on the Student. A Student is not an interruption of our work...the Student is the purpose of it. We are not doing a favor by serving the Student...the Student is doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so. A Student is a person who brings us his or her desire to learn. It is our job to handle each Student in a manner which is beneficial to the Student and ourselves.
SCSD #1 OPERATING PRINCIPLES
Preamble
The Sublette County School District #1 Board of Trustees recognizes its role and responsibility to create and sustain a quality school district, with student achievement as its primary focus. To develop and sustain high performance
for our schools, the Board directs its work on policy making, planning, and evaluation of district performance. As elected officials, we work together, aligned to a common mission and shared goals. We expect high standards of
behavior and performance from ourselves and from all others in the SCSD #1 community. To ensure unity and effective leadership, we use these operating principles to guide our conduct, practices and performance.
Board and Superintendent Leadership
To achieve our vision and best serve the students and community, the Sublette County School District #1 Board of Trustees and the Superintendent work as a leadership team. In complementary roles of policy governance and district management, we operate in collaborative partnership as outlined in the district’s Leadership and Governance policy manual.
In an effort to achieve these outcomes, the following Operating Principles serve to guide individual board member interaction as we carry out the duties and responsibilities of board members:
Decision-Making
Decisions that are first and foremost in the best interests of students and enhance the quality of programs and services in the SCSD #1 schools.
Planning, Goal Setting and Accountability
We commit to self accountability and creating realistic expectations for staff performance and student achievement through a collaborative strategic planning process.
Defined Autonomy
We commit to defining clear district goals and providing school leadership teams with the responsibility and authority for determining how to meet those goals.
Board Meetings
We choose to conduct our meetings in an open and orderly fashion.
Human Resource Development
We are supportive of lifelong learning for the Board of Trustees and all SCSD #1 faculty and staff.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to an ethic of continuous improvement.
