Websites

Noteflight.com – Online music notation software that allows students to view, compose, and share music.

Musictheory.net – Exercises/quiz games for identifying key signatures, scales, note recognition, ear training. Theory lessons on staff, clef, ledger lines, note duration, measures, time signatures, rest duration, meter, scales, key signatures, chords, intervals, etc…

Smartmusic.com – A free resource, but a teacher must give the students access. Web based music education tool that supports efficient practice and allows students to access lesson books and band music. Students can practice scales, arpeggios, warm-ups, and other exercises.

Flat.io/edu – Flat for education is a cloud based and easy-to-use music education software.

Flipgrid - Resource students already use at school. This tool provides a way to share playing with the teacher (and students if desired). Ability to leave written or video feedback is available.

Learning Music (Beta) - Ableton - Learn the basics of modern music making. No subscription or account required. Allows students to easily create their music by exploring rhythm, pitch, beat, etc. Teaches about scales and music theory concepts in a fun and student led manner.

Berlin Philharmonic - Free access to performances.

BBC Music Planet - Free access to performances from countries around the world. Exploration of a wide range of musical genres and styles.

Rhythm Randomizer - This is a great way to continue practicing your rhythms. You can even specify requirements for the rhythms you are currently learning!

Blank Staff Paper - Free printable staff paper so you can write your own music.

Metronome - Free metronome to help you as you practice any of your music.

Incredibox - A loop based composing tool, you can choose which sounds you want and the dudes on the screen perform it for you.

Free Printable Sheet Music- A collection of free printable sheet music of familiar songs.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra - Dallas Symphony Orchestra kids page which contains many games and educational activities!

Perfect Ear - (Google Play) or (Apple App Store) - A free interactive app that provides rhythm, chord, scale, interval, and theory training. Rhythm exercises are game-like; would likely be a fun challenge for students.

Staff Wars - (Google Play) or (Apple App Store) - A fun way to review note names!

Flashnote Derby - (Google Play) or (Apple App Store) - Another fun way to review note reading!

Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer - (Apple App Store) - Improve your sight reading with immediate feedback of timing accuracy. Carefully graduated levels from simple to professional allow you to start at your best level and improve at your own pace, more rapidly than on your own instrument.

The Monster Musician Reader - (Apple App Store) - An interactive music game that targets and builds the skills necessary for successful music reading.
