About the Teacher

NAME: Mrs. Hill

SCHOOL: St. Joseph Grade School

CLASS: Music

SCHOOL EMAIL: hhill@stjosephgradeschool.com

I am proud and blessed to be the daughter of a retired elementary principal and to come from a family with many educators.  I graduated from DePauw University with my music education degree and a minor in psychology.  Since I first began teaching I have taught kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of subjects including:  choir, general music, drama and musical theater, dance, guitar, keyboards and even math!  As a child my dream was Broadway, but as I grew up I realized big city life wasn't my passion, however, educating children and working with people was.  Despite my change in plans I was still blessed with the opportunity to perform in professional theatre and with a group at Carnegie Hall.    I love to learn new things and have expanded my education to include courses at Anderson University, Valparaiso University, Univ. of San Diego and Indiana University of South Bend. I have had the joy of participating in the Orff certification process through Anderson University.  I also have experience with the Kodaly Method and studied "First Steps in Music" under John Feierabend.  I am married to a loving, gregarious man, Aaron.  We have an energetic puppy named Fender, a cow-colored kitty named Moomie, and an adventurous orange tabby fur-ball named Ernie Ball.  In my free time (when I have some!) I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, making cards and being active at church.  I've been blessed with wonderful family and friends and I am so thankful for them and for the opportunity to be here another year as part of the St. Joe family.   --Mrs. Hill
