Progress monitoring is used to assess students' academic performance, to quantify a student rate of improvement or responsiveness to instruction, and to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction. Each week students in reading intervention are given a one-minute timing on different reading subtests.

Screening assessments include FASTBridge Early Reading (K-2), CBMreading (Gr. 2-5), and the aReading Adaptive Reading Computer Test (Gr. 2-5). These assessments are administered in September, January, and May. Based on the results of these assessments and classroom teacher input, we identify students who would benefit from extra reading support. In addition, the Phonemic Awareness Skills Test (PAST), informal decoding inventory, and the Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) are also used to provide a comprehensive look at a child's growth.
