January 9 & 13: Facebook Live Application FAQs
On Thursday, January 9th from 12:30-1:30 pm and Monday, January 13 from 10:00-11:00 am, Empower Illinois will go live on our Facebook page to answer any questions that schools and families might have about the Fall 2020-Spring 2021 application.
January 15: Application Reservation Night
Reservations for a 2020-2021 Empower Illinois tax credit scholarship will open on Wednesday January 15, 2020. The application will be available at 6:30pm, and can be submitted at 7pm. January 17: Applications Open
On January 17, parents will be notified by email when part two of the application opens. Parents can complete this step whenever they are able to ensure accuracy, but we encourage them to submit their applications before January 27 for the best chance at receiving a scholarship.

Empower Illinois scholarship Applications
Thank you to all for your patience as we work through the issues with our scholarship application. Numerous technology upgrades and contingency systems are in development to ensure a successful relaunch. This is a delay only and does not impact the availability of tax credit scholarships from us or other SGOs statewide.
We do not yet have a date for when the application will be available but we will provide you with at least one week notice.

Empower Illinois scholarship Applications
Empower Illinois scholarship applications will be available through EmpowerIllinois.org. The application is online only and will be available in English and Spanish. We recommend applying with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Application Checklist
Are you ready to apply? Here’s what you’ll need.
Proof of income, such as the first two pages of your 1040.
Proof of Illinois residency, such as a copy of a residential lease in the parent/guardian's name.
Documentation of the student’s age (ONLY IF student is entering kindergarten or first grade), such as a copy of the student’s birth certificate.
You do not need to submit an enrollment or acceptance letter from the private school you wish to attend but it will be required before any scholarships funds are distributed.
Application Workshops
If you need help applying, there will be various scholarship application support events across the state this week, beginning today. Help will be available in English and Spanish, though space is limited. These application events are optional. Families may complete the applications on their own. If attending a scholarship application workshop, be sure to bring copies of all required documents.
