Any Staunton High School Senior planning to attend a post-secondary school (university, college, junior college, business school, trade school, or technical school all qualify) is eligible to apply. Students must complete an SHS common application and provide a photocopy of the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) from either the Federal Student Aid Report (SAR) OR the financial aid office in the intended school of choice. Calhoun, Jersey, Macoupin, Morgan, Sangamon, and Schuyler County Fair Associations Scholarship Program
DEADLINE: May 1, 2024 by 4:00 pm
The Calhoun, Jersey, Macoupin, Morgan, Sangamon, and Schuyler County Fair Associations, announce the 2024 Scholarship Program. Under the Program $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to seniors attending a high school in the six counties. These scholarships are designated for those students attending a vocational, trade, or technical school and will be awarded directly to the institution of the student’s choice.

Criminal Justice Scholarship

The Trooper Kyle Deatherage Scholarship
DEADLINE: April 25, 2024 Turn in to Mrs. Markezich
The Trooper Kyle Deatherage Scholarship will be available through the Highland Area Community Foundation (HACF) for one graduating SHS senior who plans to study law enforcement. The scholarship award will be worth $500.00. Applicants should have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.5 and complete the SHS common application found HERE. Hard copies of the application are also available outside the counseling office.

Midwest Members Credit Union Scholarship

Presented by Midwest Members Credit Union! This year, one member will receive a $1,000 scholarship. High school seniors who will be graduating in 2024 are invited to apply for this scholarship. Proof of continuing education is also required. The application requirements include:
Applicants must be a member, or their parents must be a member of Midwest Members Credit Union for at least 3 months prior to applying. (If applicant is not a member, they will need to become a member by April 1st, 2024, to receive scholarship is selected)
Applicants must possess a 3.0 grade point average or better.

In the event that two (2) or more students have identical financial need, the highest class rank will be the criteria. If the class rank is a tie, then the ACT composite score will be the criteria. Identical ties for the financial need, class rank, and ACT score will result in a shared award. The class rank and ACT composite score should also be included along with the financial information as stated above.

AFA’s Teen Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship
DEADLINE: NO LATER than 5:00 pm ET on April 1, 2024.
AFA’s Teen Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship provides educational funding to college-bound high school seniors who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.
Applicants are asked to write an essay (1,500 word maximum) or submit a video no more than 4 minutes long, describing the impact of Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia-related illness on themselves, their families or their communities, and what they have learned.
The grand prize winner receives $5,000, with additional prizes awarded for runners up. More than $428,000 in college scholarships have been awarded since the program’s inception.

Four $1,000 WCFA Agent of Change Scholarships are offered to students who have attended at least one Women Changing the Face of Agriculture Conference. Eligible applicants include past WCFA attendees and students who participated in the 2021 WCFA Online Curriculum. One scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior, one will be awarded to a current college student, one scholarship will be awarded to a current graduate student, and one additional scholarship, in memory of Joan Loeb, will be awarded to a student who will be enrolled in an Illinois college or university in the fall of 2024.

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship is a needs-based scholarship designed to fulfill a financial gap remaining after all federal and state educational grants/scholarships available to an eligible applicant have been utilized
This scholarship is available to Children of U.S. military members who died while on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001.
Children of post-9/11 veterans having been assigned a combined disability rating of 50 percent or greater by the Department of Veterans Affairs also qualify.

The Higher Education for Compassionate Care Memorial Scholarship

Our Mission: To support the academic growth of those who plan to use a higher education to influence or benefit the mental and /or physical health of their communities over the course of their careers.

A minimum scholarship of at least $1,000 will be awarded to each recipient pursuing construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, welding, etc. as a career.

Illinois Masonic Children’s Assistance Program

The Illinois Masonic Children’s Assistance Program (IMCAP), an Illinois Freemasonry Charity, is partnering with the Southern Il Masonic Lodges in offering the N.G. Cowen Scholarship to provide financial assistance to young adults from small towns in Southern Illinois pursuing a training in the vocational or trade fields.
Requirements:
Plan to attend or enroll in a trade or vocational program, GED program or apprenticeship.
Resides in a small town in the Grand Lodge Southern Area with a population under 10,000.
Must have a high school GPA of 3.3 or lower.
Be 25 years old or younger with an identified financial need.
Must receive a Referral from an Illinois Master Mason.

The Macoupin County Diehard Fantasy Football (M.C.D.F.F)
Jeff Dal Pozzo Memorial Scholarship Fund

Criteria used for selecting recipients, including the rules of eligibility: Candidates for the scholarships must be graduating from Staunton High School in Staunton Illinois in the current school year of the award. They must meet all requirements set by the Staunton School board to obtain a diploma. They must be attending a school of high education upon graduation.
Those attending a school seeking a Trade will take priority. They must submit a letter of application indicating why they believe they should receive the scholarship and how it will help them financially. Those entering a trade field shall indicate the field they are wishing to follow. This letter of application should be approximately 500 words. Application must be submitted by the end of April of the current school year.

Macoupin County Agriculture Education Foundation

The Macoupin County Agriculture Education (MCAE) Foundation is offering 6 - $1,000 scholarships for the upcoming 2024-25 school year to students wishing to pursue agriculture majors. The MCAE Foundation offers the scholarships to provide encouragement and financial assistance to Macoupin County residents and/or students of Macoupin County schools who display well-balanced attributes of good citizenship, commitment to activities and scholastic ability. Southwestern Electric Cooperative’s Scholarship
DEADLINE: March 11, 2024
Since 1995, Southwestern Electric Cooperative’s Power For Progress Scholarship Program has provided close to $300,000 in academic assistance to students pursuing a college degree or vocational school certificate. The tradition continues this year with Southwestern’s pledge to award 12 $1,200 Southwestern Electric Scholarships and one $1,200 Alan G. Libbra Memorial Scholarship to students in spring 2024 for use in the fall 2024 semester.
Scholarship recipients can apply the funding to tuition at any accredited university, college or technical school in the U.S.
Scholarship applications may be downloaded using the links below. You'll find separate applications for high school seniors graduating in 2024 and students who graduated from high school in previous years. Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship

Each year the Illinois Administrative Professionals (IAP) at the University of Illinois offers the Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship to students planning to pursue higher education in a business-related field. Kathryn G. Hansen was one of the founding members of the State Universities Civil Service System and Illinois Administrative Professionals and, in her honor, IAP created this scholarship.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, one scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded. The scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books, or other related educational expenses.
Requirements/Eligibility:
Enrolled full-time as a high school senior in the 2023-2024 academic year in Illinois, progressing normally toward graduation.
Plans to enroll in college/university no later than the fall following high school graduation.
Strong commitment to pursuing higher education in a business-related field within the State of Illinois (with preference given to those attending the University of Illinois).
Involvement in co-curricular and community activities.

Seniors who plan to enroll in a vocational education/ trade school program are invited to apply for the Delbert W. Stiegemeier Scholarship, valued at $1,000. This scholarship is being awarded by Mr. Stiegemeier’s family in recognition of a life of hard work and commitment to a job well done. Preference is given to a student pursuing a course of study that will lead to certification in a specialized area.

The Finney Injury Law Scholarship

The Finney Injury Law Scholarship empowers students who are historically underrepresented in the legal profession to pursue their educational dreams. Cost, support, and guidance are often barriers preventing smart and driven individuals from seeking higher education. Our scholarship will help deserving students break down those barriers, accomplish their educational goals, and prepare them for a future in law.
Eligibility Criteria
A person presently enrolled in college as an undergraduate, graduate, or law student, including incoming freshmen who belong to a minority group (including women and LBGTQIA+) that is underrepresented in the legal profession.

2024 Staunton Sports Boosters Scholarship
DEADLINE: April 5, 2024
1. Be eligible for graduation from Staunton High School in the 2023-2024 school year.
2. Plan to be enrolled full-time in a college, university, or technical institute.
3. Participated in at least one Staunton Sports Boosters recognized high school sport during his/her senior year. Recognized sports are as follows:

7. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive a letter from the Staunton Sports Boosters requesting that you either accept or decline the scholarship. This letter will be provided to you at graduation and must be returned, as instructed, in June.

Eligible candidates residing in Macoupin, Jersey, Greene and Calhoun Counties may apply for a $1000 scholarship (five total awards) and must demonstrate financial need (see attached income guidelines). Award recipients must be planning to attend a full-time post-secondary course of study, leading to a career and/or employment at an Illinois institution. Scholarships are available for the 2024-2025 academic year and may be renewed depending on availability of funds and overall performance.

TOI Scholarship Application

To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
Must be a graduating Illinois high school senior.
Must be applying to attend a university/college located in Illinois. Awards may not be deferred. If you need to change schools after being awarded a scholarship, please contact the TOI office as soon as possible.

Must submit a 500-word essay on The Role of Township Government in Today’s Society and in the Future that will include information gained from an interview with an elected township official.

Getting There Scholarship Program
DCFS College Scholarship
DEADLINE: March 31, 2024
Eligibility Requirements:
The department must have court-ordered legal guardianship for the applicant, the application must have aged out of DCFS care at age 18 or older, or the department must have had legal guardianship for the applicant immediately prior to an adoption or guardianship being finalized.
Successfully competed for a DCFS college scholarship. Application period is January - March each year.
Maintain at least a “C” average each semester.
Maintain full-time status (12 hours Fall & Spring, 6 hours or an approved internship in Summer). Enrollment will be verified through the National Student Clearinghouse.

Verna Ross Orndorff Scholarship
The Verna Ross Orndorff Scholarship ($1000) was established in 1989 in honor of River Forest resident Verna Ross Orndorff, a lifelong student of Illinois history, to encourage interest in Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War in Illinois high schools.
To apply for the scholarship, essays meeting the following criteria should be submitted (postmarked or emailed) by January 15, 2024:
The focus of the essay should be on Abraham Lincoln or a significant event in the Civil War period in Illinois;
Essays should be 1,500 words with a title page, outline, an annotated bibliography and suggestions for further reading.
The Illinois high school student whose research paper is selected will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a certificate of achievement and will be honored at the Annual Awards Banquet in 2024. The paper will be published in a forthcoming issue of Illinois Heritage magazine, the popular history magazine of the Illinois State Historical Society.

This upcoming fall, the University of Mississippi will conduct its 40th Chancellor’s Leadership Class (CLC), and they are asking that I nominate one of the top student leaders in our high school to participate. This class meets weekly during the student’s freshman year and is designed to provide leadership development opportunities. Approximately 90 student leaders will be chosen from the class of 2024 to participate in this exciting seminar. The Hagan Scholarship

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship designed to help rural student’s graduate college debt-free.

Illinois Electric Coop Memorial Scholarship

Seventeen scholarships are awarded each year. Sixteen are specific for high school seniors.
Ten scholarships are awarded to students (high school seniors) enrolling full-time at a two-year or a four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school who are the child of an Illinois electric cooperative consumer-member receiving service from the cooperative.
Five scholarships are reserved for students (high school seniors) enrolling full-time at a two-year Illinois community college who are the child of Illinois electric cooperative consumer-members, employees or directors.
One scholarship, the Earl W. Struck Memorial Scholarship, is awarded to a student (high school senior) enrolling full-time at a two-year or a four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school who is the child of an Illinois electric cooperative employee or director.
One scholarship, the LaVern and Nola McEntire Memorial Lineworker’s Scholarship, is awarded to a student to attend the lineworker’s school conducted by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives in conjunction with Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield, IL.

This scholarship is offered by St. Louis Area Mensa (SLAM) for those high school seniors and undergraduate college students from the area covered by St. Louis Area Mensa. Current Mensa members and their families are not eligible.
