Planned Experiences: Regular Classroom (K-2)

Planned Experiences are lessons designed to develop and reveal advanced creative and critical thinking skills. They are presented and assessed by the campus GT facilitator in grade level classrooms. All Coyote Ridge K-2 students participate in Planned Experiences throughout the school year. Students who create products that indicate emerging GT potential will be monitored by the GT facilitator and the classroom teacher for curriculum differentiation needs and testing my be pursued if needed.

LISD and "Texas Performance Standards Project" -Critical Thinking & Research Studies: GT Classes 3-5

LISD Project Based Learning and Texas Performance Standards Projects (TPSP) are nine weeks, advanced level research units, designed to develop sophisticated products and/or performances in areas of interest for a targeted audience. Topics may include the following and are based on the capacities of Self-Awareness, Communication, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Research and Problem Solving:

Grade 3 Journey North's Global Study, Media Analysis, Unsolved Mysteries

Grade 4 Overcoming Adversity, Journey North's Global Study, Signs & Symbols, Design, Giving Back

Grade 5 Perceptions of Self, Leadership, Journey North's Global Study, Innovations, Making a Difference

Thinking Skills: GT Classes (3-5)

Thinking Skills activities are designed to develop critical, creative, and logical thinking in the GT classroom by the campus GT facilitator. Examples of activities include logic and word puzzles, analogies, Sudoku, creativity tasks, Khan Academy, iPad apps, manipulative puzzles, and nonfiction reading materials.
