About Me

I was born in Clinton, Iowa  and grew up in Dubuque, Iowa.  I attended Holy Ghost Elementary School, and I graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in 1983.  In high school, I enjoyed student government and was secretary of my senior class.    I then attended Loras College where I double majored in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.  I also have an endorsement to teach in a Catholic School.  In May of 1987  I  graduated and began teaching at St. Mary's Catholic School, Manchester, Iowa, in September 1987.  (One of the few years that school actually didn't start until after Labor Day!)  I just finished my 34th year of teaching.  For the most part I have taught first grade but have also taught a few second grade classes throughout the last few years.

I am the oldest of five children and the mother of three - Andy, Allison and Emily.  I am married to Kevin Klostermann who works for the Iowa Dept. of Transportation.   My husband, Andy, Allison and Emily are all graduates of St. Mary's.  Emily is attending Coe College and majoring in elementary education.  Andy is married to Brittney. Andy is a  lineman, and he is currently living in Utah for a year while Brittney completes her residency in Pharmacy. Allison lives in Dubuque and works for the Archdiocese of Dubuque in the Finance Office.

In my free time, I enjoy working at the Bread Basket, helping cater weddings, and baking special holiday treats. I also enjoy walking and going shopping with my daughters and friends.  Our family enjoys following Iowa football and riding side by sides to different places.  One of my favorite places I traveled to was Colorado. We were able to see many different things including, Pike's Peak, The Royal Gorge, Garden of the Gods, and a Rockies baseball game.
