The Oakland Diocese has adopted the Common Core Standards for mathematics. These standards have been adopted in public and private schools across the country in an attempt to unify our academic curriculum. As a math teacher, I love using these standards because they encourage depth of understanding and focus largely on critical thinking, problem solving and even a little bit of writing!
