Figure skating has been a very big part of my life for about ten years. I have competed both with a team and individually. I used to be on a synchronized skating team called Steel City Blades. I got the opportunity to skate with my team at a Penguins game. I have had many amazing experiences with my figure skating. It is something that sets me apart. I am very passionate about my skating. I volunteer coach at Schenley Park in the winter to hopefully keep children interested in skating. I love figure skating very much.
I have been playing volleyball for about five years. I started a year later than most people. At the time, I was still on the synchronized skating team, so I did not have the time to add volleyball to my schedule. When I was in eighth grade, I decided it was time to try some new things. I did not sign up for Steel City Blades, but I signed up for volleyball and marching band. I had to work extra hard because I was a year behind. I fell in love with it very quickly. I am still very happy with my decision to join the volleyball team. It was my first school sport I had ever signed up for. Volleyball is a sport I plan to continue playing throughout college.
Band has been very important to me throughout the years. I have always loved music. In fourth grade, I decided to follow in my mother's footsteps and play the flute. I have found that I have a talent for it. I have been playing the flute ever since. I have always been the first chair flute player which is something I am very proud of. It wasn't all talent though. I have had to put in many hours of practice to continue to improve. I have been lucky enough to be able to have a very nice flute, along with a piccolo of my own. I have been playing the piccolo both in concert band and in marching band. In marching band, I decided to become a section leader. Marching band has given me some amazing experiences along with many new friendships.
