Fifth-grade students will receive a half-hour lesson once every six rotation days just as they did in fourth grade. Homeroom teachers will share with students during the first several days of school when their regular scheduled lesson is (ex. every Day 2, 10:00-10:30). Students should come to their first lesson with their instruments and Essential Elements Book that they used last year.
Fifth-graders are required to rent or own their instrument. Music and Arts carries a wide variety of instruments and quality brands. Music store employees also measure students to ensure they are getting the accurate size instrument.

It is not a requirement you rent or purchase from Music and Arts, merely a suggestion! However, STAY CLEAR of purchasing instruments online. These instruments are typically lower quality instruments than what you find at music stores. They break easily, aren't made the right way, and don't last long. Most reputable repair facilities refuse to repair these instruments because they see it as a waste of time.
Violin/Viola players- if you are looking to get a new shoulder rest this year because you misplaced or broke yours, I wanted to share my personal favorite! Suggested size- LARGE. (Again, not a requirement- just a suggestion!)
