KINDERGARTEN

DISCIPLINARY LITERACY (Music Difficulty, Notation and Terminology, Listening and Describing)

K - Is skilled at singing short motives and known songs alone and with others within a range of M6-P8 (major 6th to octave). (A1 Music Difficulty)

K - Is skilled at performing sounds and silences of varying time duration (long/short). (A2 notation and terminology)

K - Is skilled at identifying basic elements of music: loud/soft (Dynamics), fast/slow (tempo), and steady beat. (A3 Listening and Describing)

CREATION, PERFORMANCE AND EXPRESSION (Style/Genre, Composition)

K - Is skilled at demonstrating the difference between singing, speaking and shouting voices. (B1 Style/Genre)

GRADE ONE

DISCIPLINARY LITERACY (Music Difficulty, Notation and Terminology, Listening and Describing)

1 - Demonstrates singing simple tunes (i.e. Nursery Rhymes, simple folk songs) alone and with others within an expanding vocal range of M6-P8. (A1 Music Difficulty)

1 - Is skilled at reading and performing known rhythmic elements using iconic representation or traditional notation for quarter notes, paired eighth notes and quarter rests. (A2 Notation and Terminology)

GRADE TWO

2 - Is skilled at singing short motives and know songs alone and with others within an expanding vocal range of P8 or more. (A1 Music Difficulty)

2 - Is skilled at playing simple accompaniments on classroom and melody instruments with correct technique. (A1 Music Difficulty)

2 - Is skilled at performing rhythms of quarter notes, paired eighth notes, half notes, whole notes, and quarter rests from standard notation. (A2 Notation and Terminology)

GRADE THREE
