*My Education and experience
* Graduate of Spearfish High School
* Graduate of Black Hills State University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a middle school endorsement and a minor in Industrial Technology.
* Employed as a Teacher in the Spearfish School District since 1991. I have taught 5th grade, 6th grade and 7th grade. I have taught all core subjects but Science is my favorite! I have coached multiple sports and have also taught Driver Education. I have been the advisor to several groups and organizations within the middle school.
*My Family:
*My Wife: Marcie- We have been married since 1993. She has been a social worker @ NHTC since graduating from BHSU. She enjoys running , biking and floating down Redwater River in the summer. She is an animal lover and especially likes our 4 dogs and watching our horses out in the pasture. Her new favorite thing though is being a Grandma!
*My Children:
*Stran- He is a graduate of Chadron State College with a degree in Rangeland Management. He is in his fourth year of teaching High School Ag classes and is the FFA advisor at Sturgis Brown High School. He enjoys the outdoors especially fishing, hunting and roping . He is a big football fan and has been an Eagles fan since he was about 5 years old. He also loves the Oklahoma Sooners!
*Shaylie- She is also a graduate of Chadron State College with a degree in Interpersonal Communications.. She married *Dashton Edgren in May of 2023 and on April 4, 2024 she gave birth to our first grandchild, *Sevyn James! They currently live in Holdrege, Nebraska which is Dashton's hometown, however they are moving back to Spearfish this fall. When she is not busy with Sevyn and her marketing business, she loves horses and barrel racing. Dashton works in the H-Vac industry. He enjoys frisbee golf and is a avid Nebraska Corn Huskers fan.
*My Favorite Things-
* Family, friends, food and football especially all at the same time!
*I have had horses around my entire life and have enjoyed team roping for years. I find genetics to be very interesting and the past few years have gotten into raising horses. Two of my mares had foals this past spring. This is a great way for me to roll my passions for science, rodeo and horses all together!
*I really enjoy being around middle school kids and 7th graders. I know the middle school years are full of changes with many highs and lows.
