The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a standardized test that prepares students for the SAT and serves as your entrance exam for the National Merit Scholarship. The exam takes approximately 3.5 hours including breaks and has 3 subject tests: Reading, Writing/Language, and Math. 10th & 11th grade students are eligible for this exam. However, only 11th grade students are eligible for the National Merit Scholarship. The PSAT does serve as a practice exam for the ACT as well. Student scores from the subject tests help determine areas for students to focus on to prepare for the ACT. Please note: all 10th grade students will take the PreACT exam in the Spring free of charge.
The PSAT will be offered at Grundy Center on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 starting at 8:10am. The deadline for registering students is Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Please contact Mrs. McGarvey if you would like to register your child, rmcgarvey@spartanpride.net. The cost for the PSAT is $18, either cash or check can be turned into the front office.
