Dear Fifth Graders and Parents,
My name is Mrs. Sawicki and I will be your Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I plan to make the most of your fifth grade experience. It will be a great year of bonding and creating a community of learners. I am committed to giving my students my all each and every day. My mission as a teacher is to have every student reach his/her highest potential. Each day I will instill upon my students high expectations in an environment that fosters intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth. The students will leave me with tools and the foundation needed to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
I have been teaching fifth grade in the Sparta School district for over twenty years. I graduated from the University of Connecticut. I am a huge UConn Huskies Basketball fan! I also have my master’s degree from Marygrove College. I enjoy spending free time with my daughters, Katie and Madelyn. Katie is a sophomore in college and Madelyn is a 11th grader! Katie is quite the softball player and Madelyn is a volleyball player. I also have two very cute, but naughty cats named Jo-Jo and Abe!
As a fifth grader, you will alternate between two teachers this year. You will have Mr. Gonzalez for math and science. Ms. Dougherty will also be your teacher for ELA. You will have me for Language Arts and social studies. We are both very excited and have been working hard this summer on fun new things to do in class.
Throughout the year, I will be working closely with each child. I strongly feel learning is a partnership between parent, teacher and child. We will all work together to make this truly a rewarding and enriching year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. You can e-mail me at jennifer.sawicki@sparta.org . I am looking forward to an enjoyable year. See you in September!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jennifer Sawicki
