I am proud to say that I have been teaching in the Sparta School District since 2006. I was not always a teacher -- I began teaching as a second career as my children were growing up.
I started at Alpine as a second grade teacher and remained in that position for seven years. I have always had a love of reading and a desire to help students who struggle with reading. When the opportunity arose for me to take a position as an instructional intervention reading teacher, I jumped right in and have been in that role since 2013.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from William Paterson University. In 2016 I returned to school and earned a Master of Education in Reading along with certification as a Reading Specialist from Centenary University. I am also an IMSE Orton-Gillingham Certified Teacher.
As you can see, I am a lifelong learner and I hope to inspire my students to do the same. I believe all students can learn - it's just a matter of finding out how they learn and finding ways to inspire them to learn. In my classes, we don't say "I can't or I don't know". We replace those statements with "Let me think, give a minute or can you help me?"
I am genuinely excited to work with your children each and every day. Thank you for sharing them with me!
