German Honor Society



Delta Epsilon Phi (ΔΕΦ) National Honor Society for High School Students of German recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of learners of German. The organization was founded in 1968 by Käthe Wilson at Coral Gables High School (FL), a devoted AATG member, to reward scholastic achievement in the study of German and to promote interest in the study of German language, literature, and civilization.



Requirements for Admission and continued Membership in Language Honor Societies

1. The student shall have a cumulative average of 3.0.

2. He / she shall maintain a 3.75 average in the language.

3. He / she shall have completed at least one and one half years of language study at the High School or equivalent and be enrolled in Level III, IV, or V.

4. He / she must demonstrate understanding and compliance with the school’s disciplinary

policies (No truancy, cuts, or more than 1 U per marking period).

Once inducted a student may remain a member as long as he / she

a) is enrolled in the foreign language classes offered,

b) maintains all academic, disciplinary and service requirements,

c) is available to serve as a peer tutor/student teacher,

d) participates in community service activities organized by the respective Language Honor Societies.

Membership will be revoked for failure to maintain the requirements.
