What exactly does the term "preschool lab" mean?
In our case, "preschool lab" simply means that the program is run by one director/head teacher - Mrs. Doyle - who remains in the classroom at all times, while the "teachers" are high school students exploring a career in early childhood education. The high school students have all had training in child development, as well as techniques and tips for planning and teaching developmentally appropriate activities for children. The training they've had is based on what level of Child Development the high school student is enrolled.
What does a typical day look like at your preschool?
See link for our daily schedule.
What are the times and dates of the preschool lab?
We run our program beginning in early September to mid May (depending on the high school's academic calendar). Of course, things come up in our schedule (like state testing or assemblies), so any day that there is a change to the high school bell schedule, we MAY NOT have preschool (you will be notified of these dates in advance). The times may change, but typically we run from 9:20 until 11:00.
How do we apply for a spot in your program?
Enrollment is rolling through out the school year. Simply fill out the application via google form and you will be placed on our waiting list. As soon as a spot opens up you will be contacted. Spots are filled on a first come first serve basis. To find the application click on FORMS on the side bar.
What do we need to know when we apply?
You will need to know basic information about your child - name, birth date, parent contact information, school year you would like to enroll your child. After a student is enrolled in the program, we will request more specific information. You do not need to send in any form of payment at this time.
Who can enroll in The Little Red Playschool Lab?
Children who are the ages of 4 and 5 years old can attend preschool. Although accidents will undoubtedly occur, it is imperative that your child is toilet trained before attending our program.
How much does your program cost?
Each year could be different based on the state's education budget, but the projected amount for the 2024-2025 preschool year will be $300 for the entire program (September-May).
Do the students have to live in the Souderton School District?
No, students do not have to live in the district. As long as each student has reliable transportation, we accept students from however far they're willing to travel!
Can we come check out your facility?
Absolutely! We love to have people see what we're all about. If you'd like to see us in action during preschool, please contact Mrs. Doyle so that you can set up a time to see the fun.
