Contemporary Maps*
Le Monde Diplomatique has a collection of maps relating to contemporary geopolitical issues. Maps are arranged by issue and region.
Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection at the University of Texas at Austin has a large collection of maps sorted by country, region, and theme.
ReliefWeb provides maps and graphs for current issues. Topics covered include flooding, food shortages, civil unrest, refugee migration and settlement, and other humanitarian issues.
Durham University publishes Boundary News, which reports international boundary and territorial issues.
Places in the News, provided by the Library of Congress, combines current issues with up-to-date maps.
A Live Piracy Map is published by the International Chamber of Commerce.
The CIA World Factbook has maps, photographs, and statistical information about countries of the world.
Historic Maps*
The David Rumsey Historical Map Collection contains approximately 34,000 historic maps.
The Library of Congress has an extensive collection of maps. The collection can be searched in a number of ways.
The University of Alabama has a large archive of historic maps. It has maps on special topics, such as battle maps, railroads, soil surveys, and coastal navigation charts.
Cartoko Map Database has many high resolution maps:
