A little information about me.....I am a Catholic educator who is striving to be the BEST CATHOLIC SCHOOL TEACHER I can be for your child as I integrate faith into our STREAM Curriculum and prepare the 8th graders for Confirmation and graduation.

I am beginning my 10th year of teaching science at St. Mary School and am certified to teach middle school science and K-6.

I am a faith-filled person and an active member of St. Padre Pio Parish serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and member of the St. Padre Pio Players.

I have had an interesting career journey which brought me to teaching....

I have my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Chester University and my Masters in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. I was an Oncology Nurse for four years at Fox Chase Cancer Center and an Oncology Advanced Practice Nurse for six years at the Cooper Cancer Institute. As an Advanced Practice Nurse, I was a clinician, researcher, and educator of patients, health professionals, and the community. I was on the speaker's bureau for several different pharmaceutical companies and traveled the country as a speaker on breast cancer and cancer genetics for oncology nurses.

I also worked on education of health care professionals locally and regionally on breast cancer prevention and early detection. I had several articles published in nursing journals and a chapter in a cancer nursing genetics textbook.

Though I worked as a nurse for 10 years, a main focus of my career was education.

I stayed home for several years to raise my daughters and when I decided to go back to work, I felt God calling me to do something different. I prayed about my decision. A need arose and I started volunteering at St. Mary School as an Instructional Aide and working as the substitute science teacher. I LOVED teaching science to the middle school students and was inspired to complete the NJ State Teaching Alternate Route to become certified. Teaching has become my passion and I pray that I can inspire and help your children to be successful in their academic and spiritual growth this year.

My husband, Stephen, and I have two daughters, Carina and Cara, who are both graduates of St. Mary School and St. Joseph High School.

Carina attends Rowan University and is majoring in Early Education. She is an Instructional Aide in Pre K4 at St. Mary School. Cara attends Rowan University and is majoring in Psychology.

We have a mini Goldendoodle named Casey and a Golden Retriever named Cooper. I love spending time at the beach, cooking, and watching the Eagles! I am also an 20 year breast cancer survivor! Praise God!

I love dark chocolate, wine, and strong coffee (though I am a decaf only person- the energy I have is all me- LOL!) and getting lost in Marshalls.

I am so blessed to be doing something I love so much! Science is hands on learning, which is so much fun!

My goal is to inspire your children to be the best Catholic students they can be.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

I consider us a team: Parent and Teacher working together to help your child be the BEST CATHOLIC SCHOOL STUDENT that he or she can be.

God Bless you and your family,

Patty Barse
