Q. Where and how do I turn in Senior Yearbook Portraits?
A. All senior photos will be scheduled with Visualizations. Seniors will need to visit Visualizations Photography, Inc. in Cuyahoga Falls to take their senior yearbook photo! Seniors can schedule their picture time using this link. Seniors will not be able to submit their own yearbook photos. If you have any questions, you can contact them at 330-923-3686.
Q. How do I get my cap, gown and tassel?
A. Graduation cap, gown and tassel can be ordered individually online or as one unit online. See Josten's link on the senior web page. Shipping is free for the cap and gown unit because it is shipped in bulk to the high school and will be available for pickup in late April. Any other miscellaneous graduation supplies will be shipped directly to your home. Note: All senior obligations must be paid in order to release cap and gown.
Q. When will I receive my graduation cap, gown and tassel?
A. Pre-ordered cap and gown units will be available for pick-up in the hall outside of the H.S. auditorium in April. You must order your cap and gown through Jostens by February 1st (see link above under "Important Links") in order to ensure a timely delivery.
Q. How many tickets will each graduate receive for Commencement?
A. Tickets are required for admission to Commencement which will be held in the Kent State University MACC. Each senior will be given eight (8) free tickets at Commencement rehearsal. Additional tickets may be purchased for $5.00 each (checks made payable to SMFHS) using the official Additional Ticket Request Form. Deadline to request extra tickets and accessibility tickets is six days before Commencement.
Q. How and when will tickets be distributed?
A. All tickets (initial 8, and any additional and/or accessibility tickets) will be distributed to seniors during graduation practice which begins at 9:30 a.m. Our policy is that all tickets are to be distributed directly to the senior at the conclusion of practice - no exceptions. We are unable to sell tickets to walk-ins or distribute tickets ahead of time. Please note: Graduates do NOT need a ticket to participate in commencement - the tickets are for guests/family members.
Q. Why do I have to attend the Commencement Rehearsal?
A. All senior participating in the commencement ceremony must attend rehearsal at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of graduation in order to find out their assigned seat, practice processing into the ceremony, practice coming up onto the stage, and to ensure their name is pronounced correctly. Seniors will also be receiving important papers, information and commencement tickets for their family at rehearsal.
Q. What will graduates receive during the Commencement Ceremony?
A. Graduating seniors will receive the official burgundy diploma cover during the commencement ceremony and will receive the actual diploma certificate (insert) approximately two weeks after the commencement ceremony via U.S. mail.
Q. What name will be on my diploma?
A. Graduating seniors will receive diplomas with their full legal name (first, middle and last names). Seniors are to check the posted names outside of the Attendance Office and verify their correct spelling with the attendance office in February/March.
Q. Is there a cost for my diploma?
A. There is no cost for your graduation diploma; however, there is a $25 reprint fee per diploma for any diploma duplicates, replacements, adjustments, or corrections after diploma distribution.
Q. When and how will graduates receive their diploma certificates?
A. Graduating seniors will receive diplomas approximately two weeks after the official commencement ceremony via U.S. mail, provided all student financial obligations are paid. Contact Mrs. Sedor (high school treasurer) or check your student account balance online to see if you have any outstanding school fees.
Q. How do I pay my school fees?
A. All senior financial obligations are due to the Activities secretary (Mrs. Sedor - st_tsedor@smfcsd.org) and must be paid in full in order to participate in the Commencement Ceremony and in order to receive your diploma and any graduation items. School fee amounts and details can be accessed through Progress Book and can be paid in-person at the high school or online through PaySchoolsCentral.com.
Q. Will there be a professional photographer at Commencement?
A. Lifetouch, our official commencement photographer, will have portraits available online at Events.lifetouch.com approximately ten days after the ceremony.
