To maintain consistent standards for accessibility, security, content management, and long-term continuity, SMCPS staff must use district-supported platforms when creating websites associated with an SMCPS school, department, program, club, activity, or other official function.

Supported Platforms

SMCPS currently supports:

• Finalsite for official district and school websites during the transition to Apptegy.

• Apptegy as the district's incoming website platform.

• Google Sites created, owned, and managed through official SMCPS staff accounts for approved supplemental websites and resources.

Websites created for official SMCPS purposes should remain within these supported platforms.

Unsupported Website Platforms

Third-party website builders and content management systems that have not been approved or supported by SMCPS should not be used to host official school system websites or web content.

This includes websites created for school clubs, activities, programs, departments, or other SMCPS-affiliated purposes.

The Digital Media Team does not provide training, troubleshooting, accessibility remediation, administrative support, or content recovery for unsupported website platforms.

Links to websites hosted on unsupported platforms may be removed from official SMCPS websites.

Using an unsupported platform may also create unnecessary accessibility, security, privacy, content ownership, records-management, and continuity risks—particularly when websites are created through personal accounts or when the staff member or student responsible for the site leaves the organization.

Keeping official web content within district-supported systems helps SMCPS:

• Maintain accessible content and consistent web standards.

• Protect district information and accounts.

• Provide appropriate oversight of official communications.

• Maintain ownership and administrative access to web content.

• Transfer responsibility when staff assignments change.

• Provide technical support and training.

• Preserve important content over time.
