Professional Biography

I graduated from Dordt College in 1997 with a double major in Elementary Education and Special Education. I began my teaching career in the fall of 1997 at San Jose Christian as the grade 4 teacher. I taught grade 4 for four years, a grade 3/4 combination class for two years. My current role includes being both the Middle School Student Advocate and the Director of Educational Technology, while also teaching K-5 computers and Math 6.

Personal Biography

I was born and raised in Ripon, CA, in a family of six. My parents and 3 brothers - 2 older and 1 younger - all live in the Central Valley. My husband, Nathan, and I have been married since 2002. We are richly blessed with 4 beautiful children. I enjoy traveling with our family, photography, gardening, and reading. We thoroughly enjoy being part of the SJCS community.

Christian Philosophy of Education

I believe that the entire world belongs to God and we are His image bearers. As a Christian educator, it is my responsibility not only to reflect this in my teaching, but be a walking example of Christ and to model Him in all that I do. I want to show my love for Christ through my words and actions. In the specific area of computers, we know that the computers and internet each have a profound effect on our culture. I want to teach my students how to use these wisely and in a way that honors God.
