Which course should I attend?

The Heartsaver program is for the majority of the community. Ideal for parents, teachers, coaches, babysitters, church groups, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, and for the workplace.

The Healthcare Provider program is for healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, EMT/Paramedics, first responders, and lifeguards.

Will Silver Spring Ambulance instruct courses on-site?

We have a training room available at our station in New Kingstown that is able to house all of our courses. We encourage visiting our station for a tour and to learn more about your community ambulance service.

We will travel to your group's meeting place upon request. Also upon request and availability, we will bring an ambulance for a tour.

How do I schedule a course?

If you are interested in obtaining a CPR/AED certification or wish to setup a class for a group, contact our training chairman.

What is included in the registration fee?

The registration fee covers all course materials, a participant textbook, CPR mask, and certification card.

How long does the certification last?

American Heart Association certifications expire after two (2) years. Silver Spring Ambulance does offer re-certification courses.

Is there a minimum age to become certified?

While there is not a minimum age outlined by American Heart Association policy, all participants must be able to satisfactorily complete a practical and written skills evaluation. We recommend the Heartsaver program for ages 12+. Contact us for age appropriate programs for younger children.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of participants?

We request groups of 6-12 participants per course. We are very flexible and able to meet the needs of your group. If you are an individual wishing to attend a certification course, contact us and we will ensure you are informed of upcoming courses.

How long after course completion do I receive a certification card?

Course rosters are submitted to our training center within one week of the course completion. Cards can be picked up at our station 2-4 weeks when they are received from our training center, if indicated upon course completion. All other cards will be delivered by mail and can be expected within 2-6 weeks. If certification cards are not received within these periods, please contact our CPR Program Coordinator.
