ELA
Introducing Wit and Wisdom to Second Grade! We will be studying different texts and artwork to help build our reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. We will be doing our Fundations program to help with phonics and spelling. Click HERE to read a little more about word patterns and the curriculum that we will be focusing on.
I will also be making time for centers/small group work so the students are getting differentiated instruction.
We book shop once a week and your children are choosing genres from historical fiction, nonfiction animal books, a variety of chapter books, joke books, poetry, holiday themed, and science/social studies nonfiction.
We will be exchanging books from the library every Monday which is great for them to have exposure to more text they can take home.
The Clifton Park Public Library is FREE to signup and offers such a wide range of activities and books for your child. They have different programs that you should check out! https://cphlibrary.org/

In Writing, we will be focusing on the 6 Traits - Ideas, Word Choice, Organization, Sentence Fluency, Voice, and Conventions. I can't wait to see your little ones as the imaginative, creative writers that they are! They will work on their Portfolios all year long and have a wonderful keepsake at the end of second grade.
