The indoor track and field team had their season opener at Edinboro this past Saturday. To start out the day, Haley Morgan and Keri Lechner led the way in Wildcat sprints. Haley had a personal record and a new school record in the sixty-meter dash. She placed fifth with a time of 8.20. Keri Lechner was not far behind. She placed eighth with a time of 8.31. Both Haley and Keri also ran the 200-meter dash. Haley proceeded to break another school record with the time of 26.89 seconds. She finished third and again was on her heels placing ninth. In the distance events, Carmen Medvit ran the mile in a time of 5:38.88. This run was a personal record and also broke her own school record.
On the field side, Emma Callahan won the shot put. She had a personal record with a throw of 44’ 10”. With this throw, she broke her own school record by over three feet. The big throw is currently ranked third in the state as well as third in the entire nation. When asked about her day, “I am happy with my performance, but I hope to keep on improving and staying consistent around this mark.”
On the boy’s half, Xavier Gumpp, Thomas Presnar, and Colton Ferrucci started off the season with some great results. Thomas Presnar broke the 800-meter indoor track record with a time of 2:08.47. Tommy says, “It’s challenging to dedicate yourself to basketball and find time to train for indoor track, but I try to find a way to make sure I’m getting in the right workouts and lifting in to stay in racing shape over the winter. I’m excited that I re-broke the 800-meter run indoor record, but I plan to continuously get that time down and help set myself up for a good outdoor season.” Xavier Gumpp ran a personal best time in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.93 placing him third while Colton Ferrucci had a great throw in shot put with a distance of 44’10” earning him sixth.
Freshman Presnar breaks 8oo Meter Mark

Indoor Season Off and Running ....and Throwing
Freshman Tommy Presnar breaks Matt Salem's 800 meter dash mark at the opening YSU indoor meet. Presnar looks improve on the 2:09.55 mark in the upcoming meets in the next few weekends. Congrats.
Lechner and 4 x 200 relay display sprinting prowess
Junior Keri Lechner has broken two individual records this season eclipsing Adriana DePorzio's 60 meter dash record and Logan Ferrucci's 200 meter dash record in each of the past two weeks. The times of 7.35 and 27.61 are marked improvements in each event. Furthermore, the relay team of Melina Mangino, Lechner, Angelica Klein, and Haley Morgan continue to build off of their outstanding marks in the 400 meter relay last season. The relay time of 1:53.56 crushed the previous record and puts the girls in great position for an indoor WPIAL championship appearance. Congrats lady wildcats.
Medvit Shatters Two Indoor Distance Records
Sophomore Carmen Medvit continues to build from her WPIAL Championship cross country season by setting new records in both the 3000 and 3200 meter runs. Breaking her own records in each event, Medvit is likely to advance to indoor WPIAL Championships for the first time in her career.
Callahan Sets New Benchmark in the Shot Put
Emma Callahan improved her indoor shot put record with a season best throw of 38'2.75" this weekend at YSU. The toss earned her first place honors on the day and has surpassed the indoor state qualifying standard. If Callahan can remain in top 16 throwers for the rest of the season she will advance to indoor state championship meet at Penn State University in late February.

Another season is in the books with the conclusion of the state track meet this past weekend at Shippensburg University. All cats performed admirably with Logan Ferrucci, Miranda Schry, and Jason Kraner all finishing in the top 20. Alex Pherson finished 12th in the discus, but Dom Data's two top ten finishes led the way.

Boys Earn Silver Medal at WPIAL Championships
Congratulations to the boys team who earned silver medal honors at team championships in the closest meet WPIAL history. The Cats matched wits against Derry, Freeport, and section rival Riverside. This is the second time in school history that the team has finished this high in the WPIAL standings revealing the determination, talent, and grit that this particular team possessed. The boys finish the season with a 10-3 record.
Boys and Girls Defend Tri-County Titles
Congratulations to both teams for defending their respective tri-county championships in a rain soaked meet this past Saturday. The boys both led the pack by 15 points with great performances all around. Dom Data and Miranda Schry both earned MVP Honors, while Jason Kraner, Louis Domenick, Luke Rigotti, Chase Waldschmidt, Jacqui Baker, and Allayna Allwine were all champions.
Thank You Seniors
It's sad to see our seniors last dual meet has come to an end. Let me say that this group's enthusiasm, effort, and competitive spirit is top of the class. Among them, they have gone 47-9 over the span of four seasons, made three playoff appearances, earned WPIAL runner - up honors, had 8 different WPIAL medalists, a three time state medalist and broken 15 school records. They will be missed but never forgotten.
Boys Section Title Bid Comes Up Six Points Short
The cats finished section play 6-1 for the third consecutive season advancing to team playoffs in as many years. The boys team made quick work of Union, Beaver Falls, and Laurel, but in the end lost a heartbreaking meet to Riverside 81-69. The boys gave it all they had, giving the defending Panthers their closet meet of the season. Dom Data won four events, Matt Kerr threw a season best to win the Javelin, Matt Salem placed in three individual events and Louis Domenick broke the school Long Jump with a bomb of 21'11", yet the well rounded riverside squad persevered to win their 13th consecutive section title. The cats hope to meet the Panthers again at team championships.
Lady Cats Defend Section Title
It took the lady cats twenty years to win their first section title since the 1980's and less than twenty months to defend it. Riverside, Ellwood City, and Union were no match for the girls improving their record to 7-0 in the section. Riverside and Ellwood City pushed the team to the limit, but the contributions of people like Cionni, Mangino, Klein, Baer, Earl, Hoover, Houk, Vincent, and Allwine coupled with the star efforts of Ferrucci and Schry allowed the Lady Cats to add another year to the section banner hanging in the gymnasium. Congrats.
Men's and Woman's Teams Off and Running
Both teams have contested three meets thus far and have yet to falter. The lady cats defeated soundly defeated Neshannock, escaped a well fought meet against Mohawk, and cruised past beaver Falls, powered by strong performances by Miranda Schry, Jillian Hellman, and Logan Ferrucci.
On the men's side, Dom Data, Matt Salem, Alex Pherson, and Louis Domenick led the cats to decisive victories over all three opponents winning each meet by over twenty points. The teams have keep both playoff and section title hopes alive through the first half of the season. Each faces tough tests in the second half if they are going to remain undefeated.
More Records Fall @ Wilmington Relays
The cats got off to a roaring start once again at the Wilmington Relays. The boys and girls teams were filled with great performances but the day was stolen by a few relay teams that broke school records. The mixed Vault was beaten by the team of Tyler Roolf, Matt McMillen, Valentina Vincent, and Alliya Allwine. The shuttle hurdle relay of Vincent, Ferrucci, Mangino, and Buckley ran an all-time best of 1:13. The 1600 medley of Louis Domenick, McMillen, Domenick Data, and Matt Salem were victorious and bested a school record, while the Long Jump relay of Domenick, Jason Kraner, and Luke Rigotti bombed a remarkable 60'1.5".

This years teams have high hopes. The ladies will try to defend and better their WPIAL runner -up crown from last season, while the boys try to keep a two year playoff streak in tact. Go get'em boys and girls.

Boys and Girls Claim Tri-County Championship
The Wildcat track contingency had a record day on Saturday earning Tri-County Championships for the first time in over a decade. Ricky Lanigan and Miranda Schry were huge contributors earning field and overall MVP honors. Both teams had a number of individual Tri-County champions including, Dylan Kleckner, Dom Data, Louis Domenick, Logan Ferrucci, Valentina Vincent, Evan Kendall, Matt McMillen, Brooke Tanner, Samantha Seaburn and Izzy Cionni. All athletes were elated by the joint victory and now turn their eyes to WPIAL Qualifiers next Thursday.
Second Half Recap: Woman's team Claims Section Championship and WPIAL Runner Up Honors
The lady cats defeated Laurel, Union, and Riverside in the past two weeks to earn the second section championship in school history. Continuing the charge on the track was the hurdle team of Valentina Vincent and Logan Ferrucci, while Marie Gonsar continued to chalk up victories in the sprinting events. Brooke Tanner and Haley Earl carried the load in the distance events, while the field trio of Sarah Herb, Samantha Seaburn, and Miranda (BB) Schry marked one win after another in the throwing circles and jumping runways. The lady cats eventually fell to WPIAL Champion Beaver Bobcats in the Championship round, ending a remarkable and memorable season.
Second Half Recap: Men's team Finishes 6-1 with a playoff Birth
The Wildcats bested Laurel and Union in the past two weeks, but lost a heartbreaker and the section title to rival Riverside 69-81. Leading the charge on the track continue to be Dom Data, Dylan Kleckner, and Louis Domenick with eight additional individual wins. Evan Kendall and Matt McMillen provided more points in the hurdles, while Chase Waldschmidt and Matt Salem carried the load in the distance events. Ricky Lanigan dominated the jumping pits tying the school record in the High Jump for the second straight season. Nate Gonsar earned additional wins in the Shot Put and Discus while Will Moyer, Mark Fobes, and Alex Pherson have rounded out the scoring as the Cats fought their way to the playoffs for a second straight season.
Boys 4 x 100 Relay Breaks School Record
Congratulations to the boys relay team of Louis Domenick, Ricky Lanigan, Dylan Kleckner, and Domenick Data for breaking the 35 Year old 400 meter Relay record held by Kent, Lewis, Lewis, and Pavia. The record had stood since 1981 but fell against the Neshannock Lancers with an effort of 44.1 seconds.

Multiple Cats Awarded Medals at Baldwin Invitational
The 52nd Annual Baldwin Invitational, made up of 86 different schools, proved to be an appropriate stage for many of the boys and girls athletes this past Friday. Dom Westbay placed fourth in both the Shot Put and the Discus, Ricky Lanigan placed 7th in the High Jump, Tyler Root placed 8th in the Long Jump, Sarah Herb placed 6th in the Javelin, and Brent Leber placed 3rd in the 1600 M Run. Many of the other Wildcats PR'd in their respective events despite missing the podium. The remaining cats look forward to WPIAL Qualifiers this upcoming Thursday at Shady Side Academy. Best of Luck.
Boys Turn-Around Season Ends at Team Playoffs
The boys team lost to the eventual WPIAL Champion Beaver Bobcats in the first round of the team playoffs yesterday. The boys team went 1-2 on the day defeating Trinity Christian and losing a close meet to Avonworth. Dom Westbay led the way with six first place finishes on the day, followed closely by Tyler Root and Brent Leber with five each. Dom Data and Josiah Bupp added four wins each and Dylan Kleckner, Ricky Lanigan and Josiah Bupp each added three wins also. Ryan Smith, Matt McMillen, and Alex Pherson rounded out the day of wins with one each. The boys finished the season with a record of 7-3 and look forward to Individual Qualifiers this week.
Girls Season Ends Despite Valiant Effort at Team Playoff
The Girls team lost to the eventual WPIAL Champion Beaver Bobcats in the first round of the team playoffs yesterday. The Girls went 2-1 on the day defeating both Quaker Valley and Burrell and were led by the dominate performance of BB Schry who took nine first places over the course of the day. Sarah Herb shone as well, adding seven first places of her own, while Corie Palmer, Logan Ferrucci, and Marie Gonsar added three firsts each. Valentina Vincent was victorious twice and Ashleigh Presnar, Brielle Braun, and Emma Norris each won one event also. The girls team finished the season 8-2 and now turns its focus to Individual Qualifiers
Wildcats Shine at MAC Invitational
The wildcats had many impressive performances at the MAC invitational this past Wednesday. Dom Westbay led the boys team with victories in both the Shot Put and the Discus earning him field MVP honors. Ricky Lanigan added a win in the High Jump while Brent Leber dominated the two mile. Tyler Root brought home a silver in the Long Jump. All things told the Cats finished third as a team out of 28 schools that were in attendance.
The lady cats had an impressive day as well. Miranda Schry brought home the field MVP for the second year in a row winning the Long Jump and placing second in the Triple Jump. Corie Palmer followed her MAC crown in the pole vault with a silver medal while Logan Ferrucci stole a fourth place in the 300 Hurdles. The girls 4 x 400 of Vincent, Gonsar, Ferrucci, and Tanner also found the medal stand taking sixth.
Thunderstorms Not Enough to Stop Cats at Union
The boys and girls Cats both finished section play with an impressive mark of 6-1 with defeats over Union today. Lightning shortened the day but not before the the girls routed the Union Scotties 108 - 21, and the boys 98 - 28.
One Win, One Loss, and Two Playoff Births
The Lady Cats handily defeated section rival Riverside on Thursday to earn their way into the WPIAL Team playoffs. No individual won more than two events, but the depth of the team was too much to handle as the girls surged to victory 93-57. Miranda Schry again won the High and Triple Jumps moving her consecutive win streak to seven meets, while Ashleigh Presnar, Logan Ferrucci, and Valentina Vincent added five more victories on the track. Presnar finished second in the mile as was part of the winning 4 x 800 and 4 x 400 relays. Vincent won the 100 meter Hurdles and was a part of the 4 x 400 relay as well. Logan Ferrucci won both the 300 IM Hurdles and the 200 Meter dash on her way to a 11 point day. Throw in wins by Corie Palmer (Pole Vault), Sam Seaburn (Shot Put), and Sarah Herb (Discus) and this marks the third trip to the team playoffs for the Lady Cats in as many years. Good Luck.
On the men's side, the boys lost their first meet of the season to would be section champion Riverside by a score of 57 - 93. Many Cats performed at their best, but it was not enough to dethrone the reigning champion Panthers. Brent Leber won four events on the track in a valiant effort, while Tyler Root and Dom Westbay continued their unbeaten streaks in the Shot Put and Long Jump. The Distance team carried the day for the Cats sweeping both the mile and two mile as well as adding a victory in the 4 x 800 relay. Numerous other Cats placed second in a well contested meet that was closer than the final score indicated. This marks the twelfth consecutive year that the Panthers have taken the section. This also marks the first playoff trip for the Wildcats in over a decade. All parties should be extremely proud.
Boys and Girls Teams Rout Neshannock
Both the girls and boys teams continued their winning ways over Neshannock this past Tuesday as they move toward pivotal match ups against the Riverside Panthers. On the Girls side, the Lady Cats dominated both the track and the field winning by a mark of 116-34. Samantha Seaburn led the way with a near 36 foot shot put in her first victory of the season against tough competition. BB Schry continued to rack up points in the field by adding victories in both the High and Triple Jumps, while the winners on the track were too numerous to mention.
On the men's size, the tally was 120-30. Dom Westbay and Tyler Root remained undefeated in the Shot Put and Long Jump pushing their victory streaks up to five consecutive meets. In other events Devin Ross, Brent Leber, and Ricky Lanigan chalked up wins and combined with a multitude of other great performances to dominate the Lancers. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Juggernaut 4 x 400 Relay victory of Ryan Smith, Matt Duckworth, Steve Murcko, and Nathan Gonsar. The relay has opted to retire having gone undefeated and untied in formal competition.
Leber Re-Writes Invitational Record Book on Way to MVP
Congratulations to Brent Leber who was awarded the track MVP honor at the Union Invitational after setting new meet records in both the mile and the two mile. Leber came out of the gate strong, easily winning the 1600 with a time of 4:43. He followed that up with an amazing 9:54.2 in the 3200 crushing the previous invitational record by twenty three seconds.
Cats Shine at the Union Invitational
Congrats to the Boys Team for a third place finish at the Union Invitational this past Weekend. The Cats were fueled by many great performances throughout the day. Brent Leber (1600 and 3200) and Dom Westbay (Shot Put and Discus) led the pack with two victories each. Devin Ross added a silver medal in the 400 while Nate Gonasar chipped in with a bronze medal in the shot and a fourth place finish in the Discus. Chase Waldschidt and Matt Salem both PR'ed and placed in the 3200 with season bests of 10:51 and 11:05. Steve Murcko and Dylan Kleckner added to the total by placing 4th and 6th in the 200 meter dash and shot put respectively. Not to be outdone, Alex Pherson medaled in both the Javelin and the Disucs while the boys 4 x 400 relay of Dylan Kleckner, Josiah Bupp, Dom Data, and Devin Ross finished the day by taking a bronze.
Congratulations to the Lady Cats for their efforts at the Union Invitational. The girls team was runner-up due to a number of great performances. Gold medalists included Logan Ferrucci in the 300 Hurdles, Corie Palmer in the Pole Vault with a season best 8'0", Miranda Schry in the both the Long Jump and Triple Jumps, Marie Gonsar in the 400 with a season best of 63.7 and the 4 x 400 relay
of Ashleigh Presnar, Valentina Vincent, Logan Ferrucci, and Brielle Braun with another best of 4:27. Silver medalists included Valentina
Vincent in the 100 meter Hurdles and the 4 x 800 relay of Ashleigh Prsenar, Brielle Braun, Liz Salem, and Brooke "The Ostrich" Tanner.
Westbay Shatters the Discus Record
Dom Westbay rewrote the record book this past Tuesday by bombing a Discus 164'3". This bested the previous record held by James Welsh of 151 ft. Dom's amazing work ethic undoubtedly was the driving force behind his big throw and he remains a great leader and example for the underclassmen. When asked about the accomplishment, Dom was very humble mentioning that he is trying to stay focused on his larger goals of WPIAL and State titles. Congratulations Dom.
Boys and Girls Dominate at Ellwood
The lady wildcats defeated the Ellwood City Wolverines by a score of 112 - 38. Valentina Vincent (100 H, Pole Vault, 4x400) and BB Schry (LJ, TJ, HJ) led the lady Cats winning three events each while Sarah Herb added a double win in Disc (118') and the Javelin (119'). Other double winners included Ashleigh Presnar, Brielle Braun, and Logan Ferrucci. The lady Cats improve their section record to 2-1 as the head into a home meet against Beaver Falls on Thursday. On the men's side the Wildcats were victorious by a score of 114 - 36 over host Ellwood City. Devin Ross (4 x 800, 4 x 400, 400 M) and Tyler Root (4 x 100, LJ, TJ) led the way winning three events each while Brent Leber, Dom Data, and Matt McMillen each added two victories of their own. Individual winners included Nathan Kraus, TJ McCracken, Ryan Smith, Chase Waldschmidt, Tyler Roolf, Dylan Kleckner, Josiah Bupp and Alex Pherson in the Javelin. Despite the Cats improving their team record to 3-0, the day belonged to Dom Westbay who shattered the school record in the Discus with a heave of 164 feet 3 inches. This toss bested the old school record by over 13 ft. Congrats Dom. The Cats look to extend their winning streak on Thursday as they host Beaver Falls.
Teams Split Against Section Rival Mohawk
The lady Cats suffered their first defeat of the season this past Wednesday losing to section rival Mohawk 63-87. Despite the loss dropping the lady cats to 1-1 in the section, there were a multitude of great performances. Sarah Herb highlighted the day by sweeping the Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin with impressive marks of 33' in the Shot, 118' in the Discus, and 119' in the Javelin. Miranda Schry added two more wins in the high (4'10") and triple jumps(32'10"), while Logan Ferrucci, Marie Gonsar, and Corie Palmer each chipped in by winning an event. The lady cats playoff hopes remain very much alive as they look forward to their first away meet of the season this upcoming Tuesday at Ellwood City.
On the men's side, the cardiac cats won another nail biter defeating Mohawk by a score of 81-69. The meet was a back and forth all day until the Cats outscored the Warriors by a mark of 22 - 1 over the final three events. On the track, Dom Data (200, 4 x 100, 4 x 400) and Brent Leber (800, 1600, 3200) led the charge each earning victory in three different events. Dom Westbay added double wins in the Shot (49') and the Discus (127'), while Tyler Root added two more in the Long Jump (20' 1") and the 4 x 100 Relay (47.6). Devin Ross, Dylan Kleckner, Marcus Brunelle, Ryan Smith, Josiah Bupp, and Ricky Lanigan each were individual winners as well. In all, thirty seven of the male athletes offered their season's best marks to improve to 2-0 in the section and defeat Mohawk for the first time in almost a decade. The boys turn their focus to Ellwood City for another key meet on Tuesday.
Boys Triumphant In Closely Contested Season Opener while Ladies Dominate
The boys team earned their first victory of the season Wednesday against Laurel by a score of 81-69. Brent Leber led the way as a quad winner taking first place in the 800 (2:24), 1600 (4:59), 3200 (10:33), and 4 x 800 meter relays respectively while Devin Ross added two additional firsts in the 400 (54.4) and 4 x 800, as well as a second in the 200 meter dash. In the field, double winners Dom Westbay ( Shot put (49' 0") and Discus (146'7")) and Tyler Root ( Long Jump 19' 6" and Triple Jump 38' 0")) made huge differences in the tightly scored meet. Other major contributors included Nate Gonsar, Nathan Kraus, Ricky Lanigan, Dom Data, and Chase Waldschmidt each of whom placed in multiple events.
On the girls side, things were not nearly as nail biting as the Lady Cats routed the Lady Spartans 103.5 to 46.5. Leading the scoring was quadruple winner Miranda (BB) Schry with victorious leaps in the Long (16' 7"), triple (33'10") and high (4'10") jumps respectively. Sarah Herb was a double winner with great throws in both the Javelin and Discus (101' and 108') as well as Marie Gonsar with victories in the 100 M (13.3) and 400 M (63.9) dashes. Other individual event winners included Jacqui Baker (Shot Put), Valentina Vincent (100 M Hurdles), Logan Ferrucci (300 M Hurdles), Lacee Kent (200 M), and Corie Palmer in the Pole Vault. The lady cats relay teams also had a fine day making a clean sweep of the 4 x 800, 4 x 400, and 4 x 100 meters relays.
Multiple Records Broken at the Mercer Relays
Four records were re-written yesterday as the Cats Track and Field teams gave a strong showing at Wilmington High School on Friday. The Distance Medley Relay of Matt McMillen (400), Dom Data (400), Devin Ross (800), and Brent Leber (1600) inked their names into the record book first shattering the previous record by over 17 seconds. In the very next event, the Woman's team of Logan Ferrucci, Angelina Sibeto, Valentina Vincent, and Courtney Fontana bested the shuttle hurdle relay record by over 2 seconds. Not to be outdone by the track athletes, the field competitors followed suit by breaking two records as well. The Javelin team of Sarah Herb, Samantha Seaburn, and Taylor Weinschenk demoslished the previous combined mark by more than 20 feet and the triple jump team of BB Schry, Aliyah Allwine, and Alayna Allwine bested that record by over two feet as well. Hopefully all of these new records are signs of big things to come.
Record breaking was not the only order of the day. The following relay teams also found the podium. On the Boys Side, the 6400 Relay of Waldschmidt, Kraus, Salem, and Leber placed Sixth. The 1600 Medley of Data, Kleckner, Ross, and Kraus placed Fourth. The 4 x 200 Relay of Roolf, Rigotti, Kleckner, and Smith took Fifth. The Discus team of Westbay, Gonsar, and Pherson placed third while their Shot Put counterparts of Gonsar, Murcko, and Duckworth matched that effort. Lastly, the triple jump trio of Rigotti, Andrews, and McMillen rounded out the day with a Sixth place effort.
The following Lady Cats relay teams also found the podium on Friday. The Sprint Medley of Miranda Schry, Alexis Peters, Lacee Kent, and Brooke Tanner placed Fourth, while the Mile Medley squad of McCart, Vincent, Ferrucci, and Tanner place fifth. The 400 meter relay of Kent, Sibeto, McCart and Peters also placed fourth. The Jumping trio of Schry, Allwine, and Allwine claimed victories in both the High and Long Jumps. The Discus team of Herb, Seaburn, and Hileman notched a Second, while their Shot Put team with the trade of Hileman for Baker also placed second
One Last Celebration: Congrats to Westbay and Palmer
Congratulations to both Corie Palmer and Dom Westbay who received their WPIAL Championship rings this past Tuesday night during halftime of the Wildcat basketball game. This past May, Palmer was victorious in the Pole Vault while Westbay brought home gold in the Shot Put. Congratulations also go out to Coach Sherry, Coach Sauders, and Coach Cooper for their respective contributions with each of our new champions. With both athletes returning this spring, all parties should be proud and excited as they pursue a repeat performance this upcoming season.
End of an Era: Farewell Coach Sauders
Coach Sauders ended his five year tenure this past Monday as the Varsity Boys head coach. The track family would like to wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors and say thank you for all the hard work and dedication that he has offered during the last half decade. During his time at the helm, Coach Sauders oversaw one WPIAL Champion, ten PIAA State Qualifiers, twenty-four WPIAL Medalists, and had a 14-18 team record. He will be greatly missed.
And Then There Were Three
Three Wildcats Moved onto the state track meet next week at Shippensburg. Dom Westbay and Corie Palmer were both WPIAL Champions in the Shot Put and the Pole Vault, and Miranda Schry was WPIAL runner up in the High Jump and finished 5th in the Triple Jump. All competitors performed adrimably at the District Championships. Allyssa Allwine finished 7th in the Vault, 8th in the High jump, 14th in the triple Jump, and 15th in the Long Jump. BB Schry also took 6th in the Long Jump. The boys 4 x 800 finshed 15th while their Lady counter parts took 12th. Rachel Reamer finished 14th in the two mile. Nate Gonsar finished 15th in the Discus, while Nicole Watkins was 13th in the 400 and Marie Gonsar was 9th in the Long Jump.
Lady Cats Season Ends at Team Semi- Finals
The lady Cats finished out the team season with a respectable 2-1 showing at the team semi-finals today. The girls defeated Southmoreland, 77-72, and Riverview, 96-54, but were downed by a strong Beaver squad 47-103. Miranda Schry led the way winning the Long, Triple, and High jumps with a season best of 16'6" in the Long, and Corie Palmer added a victory in the Pole Vault clearing 9'6". The Girls finished the season with an overall record of 9-2

Corie Palmer wins the vault and breaks the school record in the Pole Vault at the Mars Invitational. Palmer cleared 9'6" breaking her previous record of 9'3" despite cold weather conditions. Congratulations Corie.

Shenango Wildcats filled the medal stand at the MAC invitational capped by Dom westbay winning the field MVP. Westbay won the shot and took second in the disc. Other medalists included Corie Palmer in the Vault (1st), Paige Cassella in the Shot Put (6th), Miranda Schry in the Long(6th), Triple (2nd), and High Jumps (2nd), Allyssa Allwine High Jump (3rd), triple Jump (3rd), and Nicole Watkins in the 400 (4th)
Girls and Boys Defeat Union in Impressive Fashion
The boys and Girls Teams both dominated the Union Scotties in front of their #1 fan Monday. The girls record improves to 6-1 while the boys went to 2-5.
Girls Leap Over Riverside to Make the Playoffs
The Girls team won a nail biter over Riverside 77-73 taking the team to 6-1 in section and entering the team playoffs. The first round playoff match will occur Wed April 30th.
Boys and Girls Topple Neshannock Despite Frigid Conditions
The boys team notched its first win of the season defeating Neshannock 97-38. David Waldschmidt, Devin Ross, Tyler Stiver, Chuck Olinger, Steve Obrien and Dom Westbay led the way as double winners helped by first time hurdle winner Jake McMillen. The boys move to 1-4 in section matches this season. The girls improved their record to 4-1 in the section winning 99.5 - 49.5. The lady cats were led by triple winners Miranda, BB, Schry and Nicole Watkins. Double winners included Ashleigh Presnar and Emma Norris. Girls taking individual events were Courtney Fontana, Rachel Reamer, Corie Palmer, Valentina Vincent, Emma Rich, Marie Gonsar, and the Ostrich (Brooke Tanner).
Girls 4 x 800 fills Medal Stand at Union Invitational
The 4 x 800 team comprised of Courtney Fontana, Brooke Tanner, Rachel Reamer, and Ashleigh Presnar took fifth place at the Union Invitational Saturday. Despite medaling in the first event, these Girls were not content each going on later to Medal once or more individually. Rachel Reamer took 4th in the two mile with a career best of 12:44, Tanner aka "The Ostrich" was on the bronze winning
4 x 400 relay that ran 4:26, and Presnar took 5th in the open 800 (2:40) and bronze in the 4 x 400 relay also.
Schry takes home the field MVP at Union Invite
Miranda Schry leapt to three silver medals at the Union invitational Saturday, on her way to being awarded the field MVP. A season best 34'6" capped her day in the triple jump while she had equally impressive though not season best performance in the High and Long Jumps. Miranda also ran the second leg of the 5th place finishing 4 x 100 Relay along with Lacee Kent, Sam Seaburn, and Marie Gonsar.
Westbay continues to dominate in the field at Union
Dom Westbay finishes off a season best throw of 44'9". He won gold in the shot put at the Union Invitational and added a fifth place finish in the Discus on top of that. Westbay continues to improve with each meet adding 4 ft in distance in the last two weeks.
Watkins takes Gold, Silver, and Bronze at the Union Invitational
Nicole Watkins runs to the home stretch in the quarter mile. The Union Invitational saw Watkins PR in the 200 (27.1)(Silver medal) and the 400 (60.4)(Gold medal). Nicole also anchored the Bronze Medal winning 4 x 400 team with Marie Gonsar, Brooke Tanner, and Ashleigh Presnar
Jumping tandem of Allwine and Schry Excel in Tough Defeat to Mohawk
The girls team lost a heartbreaker to Mohawk by a score of 77-73. Allyssa Allwine, Miranda Schry, and Nicole Watkins were all double winners with impressive performances,. Page Cassella was victorious in the Discus and there were 34 Personal records on the day, but the girls came up just short. The team looks to turn the page next week against Ellwood City and Beaver Falls.
Boys falter Despite double win by Waldschmidt
The boys team lost to Mohawk by a score of 36 - 113. Devin Ross drives to the finish above in the 200 while David Waldschmidt takes a lead he would never relinquish in the two mile. Other boys that placed included Mike Thompson (Long Jump), TJ McCracken (2Mile), Dom Westbay (Shotput and Discus), and Vince Albertini (Javelin).
Albertini Bests School Record
Vince Albertini added four feet to his own school recorded at the Wilmington Relays setting a new mark of 161' 4". Albertini's throw lead the boys javelin team of himself, Aaron Baer, and Brenton Booher to the teams only first place finish.

Boys and Girls Get Split Against Laurel
The girls team was victorious over Laurel 92-58 while the boys team was defeated 50-100. The girls were lead by triple winner Nicole Watkins and double winners Allyssa Allwine and Courtney Fontana. Watkins won the 100, 200, and the 400, while Allwine triumphed in the High and Triple Jumps. Fontana added wins in both the short and long hurdles. Other event winners on the girls side included Miranda Schry, Lacee Kent, Marie Gonsar, and Sam Seaburn. The boys individual winners consisted of Mike Thompson in the long jump, Devin Ross in the 400, Dom Westbay in both the shot put and the discus, and David Waldschmidt in the 3200.

Sarah and Amanda Herb are both headed to Shippenburg Memorial Day weekend after finishing 2nd in the Shot Put (Amanda) and 3rd in the Discus (Sarah) respectively. They will not be alone. Also making the trip will be Corie Palmer (3rd in the Pole Vault), Nicole Watkins (5th in the 400) and the boys 4 x 400 Relay (5th)
