Christine Garcia ~ Owner
As the mother of four daughters, the birth experience is something that I have personal, direct experience with. As an experienced birth assistant, and now owner of Selah Midwifery Center, I continually strive to achieve more knowledge and wisdom about natural pregnancy and childbirth. I have attended over 80 births as a birth assistant and I have come to deeply respect the empowerment a women achieves when she has just completed one of the most difficult tasks she will ever be presented with - the birth of her baby. There is nothing more difficult (mentally and physically) for a woman than labor and birth. That being said, their is also nothing more rewarding than being able to accomplish it.
I birthed my first two daughters in a hospital and my second two at home with a midwife, the last in water. After my last child, I took a break from assisting at births. It wan't until 2007 when my midwife and mentor Michelle, called me to say she was finally ready to start a birth center, that I felt ready and able to become more involved in midwifery care. I started out as the bookkeeper, then as we became quite busy moved on to secretary, then office manager, all the while expanding my knowledge base, and developing an even greater appreciation for midwifery care. In the spring of 2014, Michelle decided to move on and I became the owner of Selah Midwifery Center. Midwifery care has impacted my family greatly. I have met some of the most wonderful, gifted, strong, talented, and giving women and am proud to call them family. I can say, as a matter of fact, that I wouldn't be who I am today without the influence of midwifery care.
