Course Content
This US History Course will cover the Colonialism through the Reconstruction Period and Industrialism. We will explore the country’s colonial roots under a foreign power and the causes and course of the Revolutionary War. The resulting decisions & precedents of the constitutional process and the Early Republic will be examined as well as major turning points and issues like Native American genocide, Manifest Destiny, immigration, & social revolution. From there, we will examine the growth, challenges, & development of the adolescent US. The course will then confront the long- and short-term causes & effects of the most devastating conflict this country has experienced: the Civil War. We will identify why it occurred & evaluate its effect on the country’s future and its evolution as a rising world power.
