Intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced Honors Acting

Intermediate Acting Course Description

Intermediate Acting  takes a closer look at text. From the Greeks to Shakespeare, students read

plays and learn about the historical evolution of this art form and engage in scene study. Focus is

given to Shakespeare and the actor's use of verse and prose. Students should be prepared for

challenging readings and performance texts. (Acting One is the prerequisite for this class)

Advanced Acting - Course Description

Advanced Acting emphasizes the creation of theater.

Students study principles of directing and create their own pieces.

Students also study the creative process through a variety of ensemble-based methods in addition to the interpretation of a given text.

This is a demanding course and should only be considered by students who are interested in the craft of acting, not the social or performance benefits. (Intermediate Acting is the prerequisite for this class)

Advanced Honors - Course Description

For the serious student of theater, this class provides an intensive opportunity to explore acting at

the college level. Students will be responsible for selecting and working on monologues and scenes

to integrate all of their skills into the craft of theatre. In the second half of the term, students will

produce and create their own productions based on their personal interests. An audition/interview is required.
